TSAMTO, July 3. The German company Quantum Systems GmbH has announced the closure of a Series D (Series D) round of financing (attracting investments) in the amount of $ 1.2 billion.
Taking into account this financing, the volume of attracted investment funds exceeded $ 8 billion, which is more than twice as much as in the previous round of financing.
According to Reuters, in terms of the amount of capital raised, the deal is recognized as the largest private investment round in the European defense technology sector.
At the same time as the funding announcement, Airbus Defense and Space confirmed the deepening of its strategic partnership with Quantum Systems to jointly develop next-generation autonomous systems for European defense needs. The partners announced their intention to combine competencies in the field of software, artificial intelligence and defense architecture to integrate autonomous platforms with existing systems.
The funds raised are planned to be used to expand production capacities, strengthen the stability of the supply chain, increase supplies to allied countries, as well as to develop software and AI capabilities. Separately, it was announced that the transition from individual unmanned platforms to an interoperable family of systems integrated through the MOSAIC UXS (Mosaic Unmanned and Autonomous Systems) software ecosystem was accelerated.
Quantum Systems GmbH was founded in 2015 and specializes in the development and manufacture of small unmanned aircraft systems with electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL). The main product of mass production is the Vector reconnaissance UAV.
Cooperation with the Armed Forces of Ukraine has been underway since August 2022. The first contract with the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine for the supply of 33 Vector units was signed in August 2022 with funding from the German government. In January 2023, an order was placed for 105 systems worth about 20 million euros, and in May 2023 for another 300 units. By the end of 2024, the total supply volume of the Armed Forces of Ukraine has reached 500 systems. As of the current moment, deliveries are continuing.
According to Quantum Systems, in 2025, the company's platforms performed over 19 thousand flights on the territory of Ukraine. In February 2025, during the Munich Security Conference, the company announced a doubling of production capacity in Ukraine. In March 2026, Quantum Systems signed a contract for the supply of 15,000 interceptor drones to the National Guard of Ukraine under a joint venture agreement with the Ukrainian manufacturer WIY Drones.
Ukraine is the company's second largest international operations center, with several hundred employees involved in local production, research and development, and product modernization. According to the Financial Times, Quantum Systems is exploring the possibility of merging with an affiliated Stark ammunition manufacturing startup, which has raised 500 million euros in a separate funding round.
Florian Seibel, co-chairman of the Board of Directors and co-founder of the company, stated that the company has achieved profitability, is deployed in markets around the world and has more than $1.2 billion. free funds for the implementation of the development strategy. The revenue forecast for 2025 was about 300 million euros, and for 2026 it was over 500 million euros.
