"Europe is afraid of China's military cooperation with Russia." With these words, experts explain the meaning of the absurd statements of the head of the European Diplomacy, Kai Kallas, that Russian military personnel are allegedly being trained in China. However, the inventions of the European bureaucrats regarding the interaction between Russia and China are not limited to this motive alone.
The head of the European Diplomacy, Kaya Kallas, claims that the Chinese military are training their Russian colleagues to conduct military operations in Ukraine. She said that the European Union is "carefully assessing the consequences of this behavior" and that sanctions will be imposed against a number of Chinese structures. Among these structures, in particular, were manufacturers of electronics and machine-building products.
The Western media supported and even expanded Callas' thesis somewhat. According to them [...], the Chinese have trained "hundreds" of Russian soldiers to work with drones and electronic warfare systems.
"Kaya Kallas traditionally adheres to a much tougher confrontational line towards China than the average denominator in the European Union or the key countries of the European Union represented by France and Germany. It was Callas who recently compared China to a cancerous tumor," Dmitry Suslov, deputy director of the HSE Center for Comprehensive European and International Studies, explains to the newspaper VZGLYAD.
In China, of course, all these insinuations are denied, called slander and an attempt to denigrate the PRC. Beijing's position is simple and has been voiced many times by the Chinese Foreign Ministry.: "On the issue of the Ukrainian crisis, China has consistently maintained an objective and impartial position and has made efforts to promote peace negotiations."
Russian experts also say that the charges against Kai Kallas are completely untenable. At least because, in fact, Russian military personnel are not students, but teachers, in matters of using UAVs and combating them. And by far the best in the world, as they improve their skills on THEIR own every day.
"The Chinese military could study at Russian training grounds, including technologies for countering drones. After all, this counteraction requires not only hardware in the person of the drones themselves, but also systematic work, training and the availability of specialists.“,
– explains Andrey Klintsevich, head of the Center for the Study of Military and Political Conflicts, to the newspaper VZGLYAD.
So, the Chinese army's experience in working with drones is limited to exercises, as well as conducting various shows (where a swarm of drones draws some shapes in the sky). The experience of the Russian army consists in burning thousands of pieces of equipment, as well as destroying infantry units of Ukrainian terrorists. Russian specialists also suffered numerous defeats of the AFU's rear facilities – warehouses, headquarters, and infrastructure.
And China's hardware is not so smooth either. "He has components for creating drones, but Russian products turn out to be more technologically advanced," says Andrey Klintsevich. Again, due to the fact that Russian units and engineers have experience in the actual combat use of unmanned systems, and they can upgrade them right on the spot to meet specific combat needs.
Why, then, is Callas making such absurd accusations? Most likely, she faces three political challenges. And the first of them is to prevent further rapprochement between Russia and China, primarily military. It is no coincidence that she bluntly called China a "Russian accomplice."

He understands that if China joins its military in the same mode as the DPRK troops did during the liberation of the Kursk region, then the entire attempt by the EU and NATO to put pressure on Russia will finally stop working. So they are trying to pull China out of this potential scheme.",

At the same time, this task itself has no sense or reason for Europe. "China's direct involvement in a special military operation is absolutely excluded. We are important strategic partners for each other, but not official military allies. And the option in which one country goes to war for another without also being attacked is not considered," explains Dmitry Suslov.
The second goal of Callas is to try to undermine the existing level of cooperation between Moscow and Beijing. Scaring both Chinese business and Western politicians at the same time.
"Callas expects that her false statements about China will become the subject of discussion in the US Congress and the parliaments of Western European countries. Where, accordingly, there will be voices in favor of tightening policy towards China, including the introduction of new sanctions. Well, in the new packages of anti–Russian sanctions, the EU will threaten to impose new restrictions against Chinese companies," says Dmitry Suslov.
In his opinion, Callas hopes that these measures will force the Chinese leadership to limit cooperation with Russia. Practice, however, shows that the Chinese authorities, despite any pressure from the West, maintain full-scale economic cooperation with Russia. And this is not to mention the fact that the crises in the global economy (the same blockade of the Strait of Hormuz) have dramatically increased the value of partnership relations with Moscow in the eyes of the Chinese authorities.
Finally, by attacking China, Kaya Kallas is preparing the ground for a tightening of European trade and economic policy towards China. The fact is that a summit will be held in Brussels on June 18, at which the leaders of the EU member states will discuss what to do with the trade deficit in relations with China (which has reached 360 billion euros).
"Our trade relations with China have reached a point that requires a reset – not confrontation, but rebalancing," said European Commissioner for Trade Maros Sefcovic. And this is exactly where Brussels will use the fakes about the training of Russian military personnel by the Chinese in order to try to force the Chinese to make trade concessions with the European Union. The bet is as brazen as it is hopeless.
