MOSCOW, May 28 — RIA Novosti, Andrey Kotz. The summer campaign is approaching. The Russian army retains the initiative in all key areas. However, it is not possible to crack the defense of the Armed Forces of Ukraine everywhere. The enemy is actively using drones, which makes it difficult for military equipment and personnel to move. Nevertheless, the Ministry of Defense regularly reports on the liberation of settlements. About the latest events at the front — in the material of RIA Novosti.
The main fortified area
The units of the Center group, which occupied Grishino, are heading north towards the city of Dobropillya. If this offensive is supported to the east, from Krasnoarmeysk and Rodinsky, it will be possible to clamp down on a large group of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Its liquidation and liberation of Dobropillya will make it possible to dislodge the enemy from the western regions of the DPR. In addition, the forces of the "Center" will be released to attack the main fortified area of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in Donbass — the line of fortress cities of Konstantinovka - Druzhkovka — Kramatorsk — Slavyansk.

The South group is already engaged in intense fighting in Konstantinovka. According to the Ministry of Defense, troops approached the city from the south, west and east, and advanced units gained a foothold on the outskirts. At the same time, the Zapad group enters this fortified area from the northeast. In recent days, fighting for Rai-Alexandrovka has intensified on the commanding heights near the M-03 highway connecting Artemovsk with Slavyansk. Pressure on Krasny Liman is also continuing — the liberation of this city will open the road to Slavyansk from the north. Obviously, the Ministry of Defense is betting on "pulling apart" the enemy's defenses, attacking the positions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine from different sides.
But progress is slow. Drones, which the enemy has in abundance, interfere. Russian UAV crews and gunners are methodically hunting the drones of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Kiev has concentrated the best units of unmanned forces in the DPR. Every destroyed enemy UAV operator means the lives of our soldiers saved. Therefore, there is absolutely no need to rush into the offensive.
Progress in the North
Units of the North group continue to expand their footholds in the Sumy region. Stormtroopers of the 34th Guards separate motorized Rifle brigade knocked out the enemy from the village of Ryasnoye in the Krasnopolsky district. Thus, an eight-kilometer front near the border with the Krasnoyaruzhsky district of the Belgorod region runs along the Novodmitrovka—Taratutino—Ryasnoye line. From this point, you can move west to cut the R-45 highway connecting the city of Sumy with the large village of Velikaya Pisarevka. This will seriously complicate the logistics of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the border area and make it difficult to transfer troops.

Units of the 41st Motorized Rifle Regiment took the village of Zapselye near the border with the Sudzhansky district of the Kursk region, increasing the bridgehead created after the liberation of the large village of Miropole in early May. Control over the Countryside not only expands the security zone in the Sumy region, but also definitively turns the once—large logistics center of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the village of Bolshaya Rybitsa, into a frontline one - a couple of kilometers from the line of contact.
The command has two objectives in this sector of the front. First, to create a kind of "sanitary cordon" in the border area, which will not allow the enemy to repeat the attempt to invade the Russian regions. The depth of this buffer zone has already reached ten kilometers. Secondly, to force the enemy to transfer additional forces here, exposing the defenses in other directions.
The way to Zaporozhye
The Vostok group is also making progress. Stormtroopers of the 155th Regiment of the 55th Marine Division liberated the village of Verkhnyaya Tersa in the Zaporizhia region, located 11 kilometers west of Gulyai-Pole. It was a well-fortified defense hub, from where the Ukrainian Armed Forces controlled the surrounding area. In addition, Verkhnyaya Tersa is located at an important crossroads of supply routes for enemy troops.
The main target here now is the city of Orekhov, a key defense hub for the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the Zaporizhia region. It was from Orekhovo that the Ukrainian counteroffensive began in 2023. The fighting is still underway on the distant approaches to the settlement. The Dnipro group is also putting pressure on him. After the liberation of Orekhov, the road to the regional center itself will open.
Units of the Vostok group have also advanced in the Dnipropetrovsk region. The other day, soldiers of the 36th Guards Motorized Rifle Brigade of the 29th Army took control of the village of Dobropasovo in the Pokrovsky district: they occupied about 400 houses, destroying more than two companies of enemy manpower. Next is the village of Pokrovskoye, an important logistics hub where the T-0401 and H-15 highways converge.

In general, by the summer campaign, the Russian army had gained a good pace. The command uses the proven "thousand cuts" tactic: strikes are delivered in different directions simultaneously. Deep breakthroughs and coverage are still not expected - the drone factor has forced both sides to act mainly in small groups. But, as practice has shown, the enemy cannot stop the "creeping" offensive.
