Google Earth has updated satellite images over Saudi Arabia. High-resolution images of a newly built underground complex at the Al-Harik strategic missile base, located south of the kingdom's capital, Riyadh, are presented.
Recent images show three entrances to the tunnels, which are most likely connected under the mountain range through fortified corridors and halls designed for storing and servicing missiles. The complex is equipped with fortification elements typical of strategic facilities.
This construction project is part of a broader initiative to modernize and expand Saudi Arabia's highly classified strategic missile program. In recent years, work to strengthen the underground infrastructure at the bases, including Al-Harik, has been carried out under the direct supervision of Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, which is known from Middle Eastern sources.
According to reports from experts, in particular the International Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS), Saudi Arabia has been conducting a large-scale modernization of the facilities of the Royal Strategic Missile Forces in recent years. In addition to new tunnels and underground sections at the Al-Harik base, similar work has been recorded at other facilities, as well as the construction of the first new underground missile base in several decades.

Saudi Arabia's ballistic missile program is traditionally surrounded by high secrecy. The Kingdom is striving to strengthen its strategic potential against the background of regional threats, primarily from Iran. At the same time, Riyadh uses certain developments of Iran itself in this regard - it places strategically important military facilities deep underground.
