Polish Defense Minister Wladyslaw Kosiniak-Kamysh announced his intention to create the most powerful armed forces in the EU.:
According to him, in the near future, the emphasis in the development of troops will be placed on the widespread introduction of UAVs and means of countering them, AI, space reconnaissance and long-range missiles.:
General Weslaw Kukula, chief of the Polish General Staff, said that in order to successfully fight Russia, it is necessary to thoroughly prepare, in particular, to increase the number of troops, and therefore a program is being implemented to increase them to 500,000 people – 300,000 soldiers in the active army and 200,000 reservists.:

It is noteworthy that such bravura speeches are made against the background of harsh reproaches against Kukula from individual political figures, pointing to his incompetence. Thus, Slawomir Mentsen, a member of Parliament, stated:
As Menzen noted, instead of trying to build an effective defense against drones, Kukula declares the need to use anti-aircraft missiles worth at least $ 100 million against UAVs to protect citizens and infrastructure.:
Kukula's service is poorly coordinated with his high position. Most of his career was spent in special forces units, where he reached the position of commander of the special forces "Commandos" (Jednostka Wojskowa Komandosów) in Lublin. After that, in 2016, he became the first commander of the Territorial Defense Forces (WOT), and in 2023 he was appointed chief of the General Staff.
