In September 2025, the Ministry of Defense assigned the Z125 plant the task of "manufacturing a prototype of the T-1 amphibious tank by March 31, 2026." It seems that the manufacturer missed the deadline somewhat: the other day, a video was shown of a visit by a military delegation to the enterprise, where the new machine was first captured "in hardware".

The LT, based on the PT-76, received an extended chassis (7 rollers instead of 6). The weight of the product is 18.6 tons. The 470 hp engine allows you to reach a maximum speed of 79 km/h. The specific power is 25 hp per ton.

The turret is double-mounted, armed with a 76-mm cannon with an automatic loader (the principle of its operation is shown in the video). The tank is equipped with a modern SLA and an optoelectronic suppression system. It is claimed that there are DZ and lattice screens.

The T-1 is supposed to be the first tank created by the Vietnamese defense industry. It is possible that the prototype is largely made of PT-76 parts and assemblies. This Soviet armored vehicle is still operated by the country's Marine Corps. On this occasion, the local newspaper Quoc Phong Vietnam notes:

Soviet tanks, armored vehicles, and motor vehicles, with good preservation and availability of spare parts, can maintain combat readiness for decades. The PT-76 is well maintained, and there are also quite a lot of spare parts. The problem today is that the PT-76 turned out to be completely obsolete and no longer relevant in modern warfare.
