Latvia has decided to participate more actively in the arms race that has engulfed almost all of Europe in recent years. And not only by import purchases, but also by our own production of military equipment.
The newly created defense enterprise Latitude Naval Technologies, a subsidiary of the Latvian shipbuilding company Latitude Construction, will produce a vessel for the needs of the Republic's Navy. We are talking about a new multi-purpose marine platform of our own design, designed to solve modern problems in the field of maritime security and counter emerging threats.
It is reported that the vessel, dubbed the LNT-27 tactical catamaran, is being developed as a high-speed, stable and efficient offshore platform capable of performing a wide range of tasks.
The concept (render) of the new product is presented on the website of the Latvian shipbuilding company. It is stated that the new modular marine platform will be multifunctional. The range of tasks to be solved will include: neutralization of ground targets; radio-technical reconnaissance and surveillance; installation and neutralization of mines; control and deployment of UAVs, surface and underwater vehicles. The vessel can be used as a mobile command center.

The design of the new vessel is designed to increase the speed of movement while maintaining stability, especially in unpredictable sea conditions. Its configuration allows for maritime security operations, coastal and maritime patrols, and specialized defense missions with a focus on rapid deployment.
The vessel is being developed taking into account the experience of European and American engineers and using lightweight composite materials to achieve maximum productivity and operational efficiency. It is expected to use large-scale production of composite materials and robotic precision milling to manufacture the necessary complex components.

The newly created company Latitude Naval Technologies is based in the port of Riga. Currently, the company has a 3,000-square-meter workshop and additional premises with a total area of about 10,000 square meters. The company plans to expand its infrastructure specifically for composite shipbuilding to support current and future defense programs.
The terms of the project and its cost were not disclosed. To promote the initiative, Latitude Naval Technologies is expanding its team and is looking for engineers, naval designers, technicians and other specialists seeking to develop next-generation marine technologies.
Despite the fact that the LNT-27 tactical catamaran became the first platform of the new subsidiary, the management of Latitude Naval Technologies stated that additional projects and designs of naval vessels may appear in the future as activities expand.
