The Indian Military-Industrial Complex (MIC) is developing an analog of the American MQ-4C Triton drone with a jet engine for the Navy. It will be equipped with an active phased array antenna, electronic warfare, as well as electronic and electronic-optical intelligence.
This was reported by the Indian Directorate of Defense Research (IDRW).
The project is currently in the drawing stage.
IDRW expects that the new high-altitude, long-duration UAV will change the approach to monitoring vast areas of the Indian Ocean.

It is assumed that the device being created in India will be similar in its characteristics to the MQ-4C Triton from the American company Northrop Grumman. The American is capable of operating at an altitude of more than 15 kilometers and has a maximum range of 13.7 thousand km.

The device is capable of staying in the air for more than a day. It can carry out long-term missions even in difficult climatic conditions. In particular, the drone is equipped with an anti-icing system for operation at extremely low temperatures.
The viewing angle of the device is 360 degrees, which is a very important factor when performing reconnaissance, surveillance and reconnaissance tasks. It is capable of providing real-time intelligence on the situation in vast maritime and coastal areas. Most often, the drone is paired with the P-8 Poseidon anti-submarine aircraft, complementing its capabilities.
