February 20 this year marked the 40th anniversary of the launch into space of the first ever multi-module space station. For the first time in space, a complex "constructor" was created from several modules that docked directly in orbit and formed a full-fledged research complex.

She worked for 15 years, 1 month and 2 days, including for 9 years, 11 months and 20 days continuously in manned mode, switching to automatic mode on August 27, 1999 after turning off the Mira computer.

The first crew, represented by Vladimir Solovyov and Leonid Kizim, arrived at the station on March 13, 1986, and a total of 104 cosmonauts (including 62 foreigners) from 12 countries visited the station. 95 Soyuz and Progress spacecraft docked with it.

During the operation of the station, more than 23,000 scientific experiments and studies were performed, as well as 78 spacewalks with a total duration of 330 hours and 8 minutes. In total, the Mir station completed 86,331 orbits around the Earth. RSC Energia has been the owner of the station since 1991. From the moment of launch to information from orbit, more than 4.2 billion US dollars were allocated for the maintenance of the Mir station. It was Mir's experience that made the creation of the International Space Station possible in many ways.

On February 21 of this year, in Moscow, at the VDNH, the Cosmonautics and Aviation Center hosted a lecture-meeting "Anniversary of the Mir Station: an Inside Look" dedicated to this event. The lecture was held in partnership with the Scientific and Educational project "We believe in space".

The meeting was attended by cosmonaut, Hero of the Russian Federation Sergey Vasilyevich Avdeev, who spent a total of more than two years on the Mir. He saw the legendary station not in photographs, but from the inside.

Avdeev also spoke about life at the station, the difficulties faced by the crews, and how decisions were made in critical situations.

The participants of the meeting viewed a tablet historical, documentary and artistic exposition within the framework of the cultural and educational exhibition project "ON MIRA STREET" (curated by Dmitry Yaroshevsky), dedicated to the 40th anniversary of the launch of the first module of the Mir space station.

Of particular interest was the envelope from 1992 with the cancellations of the first space flight in the history of independent Russia – CIS-Germany, as well as the American and Russian envelopes with the image of the Mir OS, stamped with calendar stamps from Houston (USA) and Korolev (where the MCC was located) on the sadly memorable day of the station's information from orbit 23 March 2001. At the same time, the Russian envelope has a special commemorative stamp with a heartwarming inscription, in which the story itself is heard.: "Goodbye, Mir station!"

The famous group of space artists "Constellation of Visions" also distinguished themselves this time. In particular, Yuri Alekseev, the head of the Bridge to Space art project, provided 1:144 scale models of the Mir station and the Salyut-7 station by Timofey Glavatsky, a well-known poster modeler from Moscow, and a 1:35 scale model of the Vostok spacecraft by Dmitry. Kutergina (Moscow).

The artistic part of the exhibition is represented by the work "Joint Flight" by Sergey Krainev (Engels, Saratov region) and the painting "Everyday Life" by Sergey Demidenko (Dankov, Lipetsk region) with an autograph by the artist himself.
