The Turkish company TAIS presented the LHD-230 amphibious assault ship project at the DIMDEX 2026 exhibition in Doha.
The length of the ship is 230.8 m, width 32 m, draft 6.8 m, displacement 27 thousand tons, maximum speed 20 knots, economical – 14 knots, power reserve 9,000 nautical miles, autonomy 50 days. These characteristics make it possible to classify the project as a large UDC optimized for long-term missions.
The course is provided by two Siemens esipods with a capacity of 11 MW each, complemented by two 1500 kW bow thrusters for maneuvering. Electricity is generated by five 8000 kW diesel generators.
The ship has 348 seats for crew members and additional seats for 700 paratroopers, 200 MTR fighters, 56 aviation specialists and 50 medical personnel.
The LHD-230's armament includes five 25-mm Aselsan STOP artillery systems (for combating boats and UAVs), two Phalanx anti-aircraft artillery systems, an anti-missile defense system (two Mk 49 21-cell launchers) and a decoy launch system.

The air group can be represented by 10-12 medium and heavy helicopters. At the same time, the project is adapted to the use of deck-based attack drones (such as Bayraktar TB3 or Kızılelma), whose presence on board is able to turn the LHD-230 into a light aircraft carrier.
This project is a further development of Turkish competencies in the field of UDC construction. The national champion in this category was TCG Anadolu, which entered service in 2023.
