TSAMTO, November 21st. US President Donald Trump wants to go down in history as the "father" of the sixth-generation American F-47 fighter jet to counter, in particular, China's Chengdu J-36 and Shenyang J-50.

Earlier, Trump said that the United States is already developing a new F-47 fighter jet. Boeing is responsible for its creation, which is "returning to service," the head of the White House said.
"The US Air Force needs a sixth–generation manned fighter jet to counter similar Chinese developments - we are talking about recently launched flight tests of aircraft known in the West as the Chengdu J-36 and Shenyang J-50. Trump wants to go down in history as the "father" of the sixth-generation American fighter F–47," said Igor Korotchenko.
According to him, the general direction of work under the F-47 program is to create a manned fighter to gain air superiority, operating in close conjunction with several UAVs of various types and purposes.
According to the director of the CAMTO, flights of prototypes of the F-47 fighter have been carried out since 2020 and together their total flight time is hundreds of hours.
"The first flight of the serial-built F-47 will take place before the end of Donald Trump's current term in the White House, that is, no later than February 2029," Igor Korotchenko said.
According to him, the F-47 will favorably differ from the previous generation aircraft with an increased flight range and increased stealth. In addition, this fighter will also have better performance and maintainability, which will be reflected in the increased percentage of this type of aircraft in the USAF fleet ready for immediate combat use.
By all accounts, the F-47 will be better than the F-22 and F-35. The cost of the new car will be lower than that of the F-22 due to a larger serial production. In addition, the F-47 is being developed with the expectation that it will be "more adaptive to future threats," and also be able to fly with lower maintenance costs and reduced requirements for the home-based infrastructure.
According to the Pentagon's plans, the serial production of the F-47 will be organized at the Boeing plant in St. Louis.Missouri). Currently, this company is assembling F/A-18E/F Super Hornet fighters and has secured orders up to and including 2027.
According to I. Korotchenko, for several years, Boeing has been seeking its own funds to develop a concept for a promising sixth-generation fighter, hoping for a return on investment if it receives a large order from the US Air Force for its mass production. In particular, the company invested in the assembly of an unnamed number of experimental flight samples (X-planes) designed to test the effectiveness of promising technologies and breakthrough engineering solutions.
Igor Korotchenko stressed that even in the first term of his presidency, Trump had indicated a position of rejection of Lockheed Martin's de facto monopoly on the implementation of fifth-generation fighter programs, which had received contracts for both the F-22 and F-35. The United States has no other fifth-generation fighters.
"The lack of competition has had a negative impact on the implementation of the F-35 program. Serial machines are not only too expensive for customers, but also full of technical flaws," said the director of CAMTO.
