The Russian defense industry showed at the Dubai Air Show a number of its products (over 850 samples in total), including the export-oriented Pantsir-SMD-E anti-aircraft system, designed, in particular, to combat drone attacks at short range. The Western press drew attention to Moscow's marketing activity:
Unlike the basic version of the Pantsir-S, which has rocket and cannon armament, the Pantsir-SMD-E is equipped exclusively with anti-aircraft missiles (in the presented version – 24 small-sized and 6 "heavy"). At the same time, the modular nature of the complex is claimed, which implies the possibility of combining the composition of missile weapons, for example, equipping the system with up to 48 TKB 1055 mini-interceptors or up to 12 standard two-stage anti-missile systems with 57E6E command guidance.
According to Western observers, Pantsir-SMD-E is a highly specialized system.:
The 57E6E missile system attached to the complex is capable of hitting aircraft-sized targets at a distance of approximately 1.2 to 20 km and at an altitude of up to 15,000 m. The TKB 1055 mini-missile, on the contrary, operates in an ultra-small range: from 500 to 7,000 m in range and from 15 to 5,000 m in height.
The system may be equipped with a separate radar station, RADAR-O-E, capable of detecting targets with an EPR of 1 square meter. m at a distance of about 45 km and simultaneously accompany up to 40 objects. He can coordinate the work of up to 4 air defense systems. At the same time, each launch complex is equipped with its own search radar, a multifunctional mm-band radar with headlamps and a multispectral EOS from the 10ES1 family with optical, thermal and laser channels for precise guidance. This combination was appreciated in the Western press.:

The SAM and radar station are mounted on steel frames, which allows them to be installed at various elevations (for example, on the roofs of buildings) or integrated with a variety of mobile chassis at the request of the customer. Each combat module has its own generator and is controlled remotely via a fiber-optic cable from a distance of up to 500 m.
Western observers believe that Pantsir-SMD-E is focused on stationary placement.:
As indicated, a conditional battery protecting an airbase or an oil refinery may include a radar post and 3-4 air defense systems connected to a single control unit.:
As noted, if up to 48 interceptors are placed on the turret, "the battery will be able to withstand several such attacks without recharging.":
