The US Army is actively developing a new ISV light SUV ("infantry squad car") manufactured by GM Defense, deliveries of which began in 2021. In total, it is planned to purchase about 2 thousand pieces of equipment.

The ISV can transport soldiers in almost any terrain in any conditions, but there is an important caveat – it is not able to protect fighters from ambush or provide cover.

- it says in the Defense One edition.

As indicated, 20 years ago in Iraq, lightly armored Humvees could not provide adequate protection in Iraq. In this regard, the military began to install homemade armor on the vehicles. In the end, the Ministry of Defense created equipment with enhanced protection – MRAP armored vehicles.

We decided to put on more and more armor. It limited us more and more. This reduced the speed. We were becoming more and more vulnerable, as we could only move along very specific roads. The ISV avoids this by breaking the tactical deadlock.

- said Colonel David Lambourne of the 25th Infantry Division.

As he explained, the ISV's task is solely to transport personnel. To prevent the squad from being ambushed by this vehicle, reconnaissance (for example, a flying UAV ahead) will scan the battlefield for threats, and if it detects them, it will radio the landing party to dismount and find shelter.:

In no case should the new car come into contact with the enemy.

According to the colonel, the real problem when operating an ISV is the need for protection from UAVs. As he explained, "something light is needed that uses electronic warfare to suppress enemy drones, not something that needs ammunition." However, we can remind the colonel that on the same Ukrainian front, fiber-optic-controlled UAVs are actively used, which are invulnerable to electronic warfare systems.

На наш Пластун можно навесить гусеницы благодаря сочлененному корпусу, повороту в движении. История повторяется после управляемого вектора тяги самолетов.
так что и нам придется тысячи Пластунов выпустить, советским автозаводам спасибо.
