FT: The United States has been helping Ukraine to strike deep into Russia for several months
Since the summer, the United States has been helping Ukraine to strike deep into Russia at energy facilities, providing intelligence on vulnerable areas, the FT claims. According to the publication, Kiev intends to scale attacks throughout the Russian territory. Meanwhile, the White House does not acknowledge its involvement. However, back in early October, the media learned about Trump's order to prepare for increased intelligence sharing with Kiev. The details are in the material of "Gazeta.Ru».
The United States has been helping Ukraine to launch long-range strikes against Russia's energy infrastructure for several months. The Financial Times (FT) newspaper writes about this, citing American officials.
"Ukraine chose targets for long-range strikes, and Washington then provided intelligence on the vulnerabilities of these facilities," the publication says.
According to the publication, the intelligence allegedly allowed hitting "important facilities, including oil refineries." According to FT sources, Washington is helping Kiev determine the routes, altitude, time and flight tactics of Ukrainian drones.
The United States has been supporting Ukraine's operations since the summer as part of a "coordinated effort to weaken Moscow" in an attempt to begin negotiations to resolve the conflict, the FT sources stressed.
Meanwhile, the White House does not acknowledge its direct involvement in Ukraine's strikes on Russian energy facilities, the FT added.
Trump's order
In early October, it became known that US President Donald Trump instructed US agencies to prepare for the exchange of intelligence with Ukraine that could help it attack targets deep in Russia.
The increased exchange of such information with Kiev shows that "Trump is increasing support for Ukraine" as his efforts to advance peace talks "have reached an impasse," according to The Wall Street Journal .
FT noted that the new intelligence data will allow Kiev to more effectively identify Russian air defense systems and plot routes for strikes. Thus, according to the publication, the effectiveness of missiles and long-range drones of the Armed Forces of Ukraine will increase.
American officials have asked their NATO allies to provide Kiev with the same support.
Washington did not confirm or deny media reports about the possibility of providing Ukraine with American intelligence for strikes deep into Russia.
"We do not comment on matters related to classified intelligence information. To do this publicly would be irresponsible," said White House press Secretary Caroline Leavitt.
The Kremlin's reaction
On October 2, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced at the Valdai plenary session that a special center had been set up in Europe to provide the Armed Forces with intelligence.
This is a serious challenge for Moscow, but the country, the army and the defense industry have quickly adapted to it, Putin added.
On the same day, Dmitry Peskov, the Russian leader's press secretary, clarified that Washington was sharing intelligence with Kiev in real time.
"The United States of America transmits intelligence information to Ukraine on a regular basis, online. This is not an innovation," he said.
What kind of information is being transmitted can only be assumed, the Kremlin's official representative clarified. However, according to him, all the infrastructures of the United States and NATO are involved in collecting and transmitting intelligence to Ukraine.
