Russia may soon have new types of weapons. President Vladimir Putin announced this at a press conference following his visit to Tajikistan.

The authors of the Telegram channel "Military Chronicle" suggested that the head of state could have been referring to a cruise missile with a nuclear power plant "Burevestnik", the development of which was completed recently. This year, analysts have already recorded signs of preparation for its new tests — several areas were closed in Novaya Zemlya, and the activity of transport aircraft also increased. At the same time, there has been no official information about the presentation of the weapon yet.

Meanwhile, Putin added that in the areas of intercontinental development, Russian weapons at sea and in the air still adhere to a "very high level." "The novelty of our nuclear deterrent is higher than that of any other nuclear state. And we are developing all this very actively," the politician concluded.

Putin revealed details of modernization of Russian weapons

Taking into account the experience of the special military operation (SVO), the characteristics of modern types of weapons and military equipment have improved significantly, Putin said.

The Head of State noted that over the past few years, Moscow has multiplied the production of particularly sought-after weapons and equipment. "Their tactical and technical characteristics have been significantly improved, taking into account combat use," the president stressed.

According to him, Russia has also recently begun work on the creation of new hypersonic weapons systems. The President clarified that the country currently has Kinzhal and Avangard hypersonic complexes in its arsenal.

Putin added that in the near future, Russian engineers may create other similar systems. "We haven't forgotten anything that we planned. <...> There will be results," the politician assured.

The updated Pantsir-SMD anti-aircraft missile system (SAM) will significantly expand and strengthen the capabilities of the Russian air defense system. Military expert Alexey Zhivov shared his opinion on this issue.

Pantsir-SMD is a melee air defense system that has been improved based on its experience. The cannon complex of the cannon was replaced with a complex of small interceptor missiles, which allowed the fighters to shoot back at the enemy almost without reloading.
