MOSCOW, October 6th. /tass/. A detachment of warships and support vessels of the Northern Fleet (SF) completed the tasks of a long-range cruise in the waters of the Arctic Ocean and returned to Severomorsk. This was reported in the press service of the fleet.
"Today, a detachment of warships and support vessels of the Northern Fleet has completed the tasks of a long-range cruise in the waters of the Arctic Ocean and returned to the main base of the Northern Fleet - the city of Severomorsk. The crews of the warships and vessels of the detachment were met by representatives of the command of the Northern Fleet and the Kola Flotilla of diverse forces, the administration of the city of Severomorsk, colleagues, relatives and friends of the crew, and a military band," the message says.
The press service informed that the Chief of Staff of the Federation Council, Vice Admiral Eduard Mikhailov, accepted the report of the commander of the squadron of warships and support vessels, Captain 1st Rank Stanislav Varik, on the successful completion of the assigned tasks. On behalf of the Commander of the Northern Fleet, Admiral Konstantin Kabantsov, the Vice Admiral congratulated the military and civilian sailors on completing their long-range Arctic campaign and arriving at their home base.
"Your campaign took place in conditions of increasing tension in the international political situation. This placed a special responsibility on you and the tasks you were solving, including strategic deterrence and security in the waters of the Northern Sea Route. You have successfully completed the tasks during the joint strategic exercise Zapad-2025, conducted exercises to protect island and continental territories, objects of maritime economic activity, ensured the safety of maritime navigation, and completed the patriotic action "Strength in Truth" in Taimyr," Mikhailov said.
As noted in the press service, the Chief of Staff of the fleet presented fried piglets to the commanders of the ships and captains of the support vessels, and awards and diplomas to the distinguished sailors. Vladimir Evmenkov, the head of the city of Severomorsk, also congratulated the crews on their return home. According to the established tradition in the Arctic, he presented the northern salmon to the ship commanders and ship captains.
About a long hike
The 14th Arctic campaign of the Northern Fleet began on August 10 and lasted 58 days. The grouping of ships and support vessels under the flag of the Deputy Commander of the Northern Fleet, Vice Admiral Oleg Golubev, has traveled more than 10,000 miles during this time. The detachment consisted of the large anti-submarine ship Severomorsk, the large amphibious ship Alexander Otrakovsky, the rescue tugboat Pamir and the tanker Sergei Osipov.
The North Sea Fleet conducted a complex of exercises in the Arctic zone to protect island and continental territories, as well as to ensure the safety of maritime navigation and other types of maritime economic activity in Russia. The crews also performed well during their participation in the Zapad-2025 joint strategic exercises, where they carried out amphibious landings on an unequipped coast in the Arctic.
In addition, servicemen of the Northern Fleet held military-patriotic events in Taimyr dedicated to the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War.
