TSAMTO, September 24. The first three BvS10 articulated armored tracked all-terrain vehicles purchased for the Armed Forces of Sweden, Germany and the United Kingdom were rolled out at BAE Systems Hagglunds.
According to BAE Systems, these are the first of the 663 armored vehicles ordered under the joint procurement agreement signed in 2022. According to separate PoA agreements concluded in accordance with this framework agreement, it is planned to supply 236 BvS10 units for the Swedish Armed Forces, 60 units for the British Armed Forces and 140 units for the German Armed Forces by 2028. As part of the same agreement, Germany later ordered an additional 227 BvS10 vehicles.
The armored vehicle is an adapted version of the latest BvS10 version, which has been adopted by the Swedish Armed Forces and can be supplied in variants of an armored personnel carrier, supply vehicle, ambulance, control vehicle and BREM.
As reported by CAMTO, in November 2022, the Swedish Armed Forces Logistics Agency (FMV) signed a framework contract with BAE Systems Hagglunds for the supply of 436 Bv410 articulated armored tracked all–terrain vehicles (Bandvagn 410 is the Swedish designation for the BvS10 Mk.2B all-terrain vehicle).
The contract was signed as part of a European project initiated in February 2019 to purchase a new generation of off-road vehicles, later designated CATV (Collaborative All-Terrain Vehicle), which will replace some of the outdated Bandvagn 206 (BV-206) and BvS10 Viking all-terrain vehicles. The project was managed by Sweden.
The agreement will be valid until December 2029, with the possibility of extension until December 2032. According to BAE Systems Hagglunds, the purchase price for the CATV project was $760 million. As stated, 236 BvS10 units will be transferred to the FMV Agency, 140 units. – The German Federal Office for Armaments, Information Technology and Maintenance (BAAINBw) and 60 units. – To the British Ministry of Defense. The partners do not exclude the participation of other states in the project.
BvS10 Mk.The 2B is an articulated floating tracked vehicle with a total weight of about 15 tons (with cargo). The length of the armored vehicle is 8.3 m, width – 2.2 m, height – 2.3 m, payload weight – 6 tons, crew – 2 or 3 people. The car can accommodate up to 12 people.
The BvS10 is equipped with a 275 hp six-cylinder diesel engine, an Allison 3000–series six-speed automatic transmission, reaches a maximum speed of 65 km/h on the highway and 4 km/h afloat, with a power reserve of 359 km. The armament of the armored vehicle includes a 12.7mm or 7.62mm machine gun or a remote-controlled combat module. The hinged reservation allows to provide ballistic protection conforming to the NATO standard STANAG-4569 Level.4.
The machine can overcome rocks, mountains, snow, swamps, water obstacles by swimming, and is also used in Arctic conditions. The BvS10's modular design allows it to be adapted to changing tasks.
The BvS10 is currently operated by Austria, France, the Netherlands, Sweden, and the United Kingdom.
