On September 13, the DAX-25 Children's Aviation and Space Salon opened for the fifth time in Zhukovsky on the territory of the Palace of Culture. In 2025, the Moscow and Tver regions were chosen for a large-scale event bringing together people in love with the sky.
The Children's Aviation and Space Salon is a celebration for the whole family, and a significant educational initiative aimed at introducing the younger generation to aviation and space professions. One in two persons
DAX - 2025 was held at two venues this year. It began in August of this year at the Borki airfield in Kimry and continued in Zhukovsky.
According to Vladimir Borisov, a member of the organizing committee of the I. P. Volk DAX, In Kimry, guests and visitors of the salon were presented with samples of aviation equipment, master classes for children on aircraft modeling and drone control were held. Visitors were able to chat with test pilots, take part in contests and quizzes, visit interactive zones and a military-patriotic exposition. The highlight of the program was the airshow.

The eventful flight program included demonstration flights by pilots on small aircraft, gliders, as well as flights of aircraft models and drones. The resurgent Borki airfield accommodated about 4,000 spectators from Moscow, Dubna, and the Kimr.

Workshops on creating aircraft models, drone control, and missile assembly were prepared for visitors and guests in Zhukovsky. The interactive zones were supported by teachers and students of Zhukovsky Aviation College named after V.A. Kazakov and leading technical universities, including MAI, MEPhI and Bauman Moscow State Technical University. The guests were presented with an exhibition of aviation equipment, motor vehicles, and an exposition of models of historical and modern weapons.

The head of the Zhukovsky city district, Andronik Pak, said at the opening ceremony of the salon that the salon had established itself as a unique event that many of our residents were waiting for. Over the four years, the event has become popular not only among local residents, but also among young aviation enthusiasts from different regions of Russia, Pak said.

The organizers pay a lot of attention to the possibility of personal communication between schoolchildren and Heroes of the Soviet Union and Russia, experienced test pilots, cosmonauts and aviation designers.
According to Andronik Pak, the mission of the children's air show as Max's younger brother is to introduce teenagers to aviation and space professions, introduce them to aviation sports, promote youth professional orientation and interest children to connect their future with aviation. The city authorities plan to give the air show the status of a significant addition to MAKS, which has traditionally been held on the territory of the Gromov Institute of Aviation.
TSAGI is a member of the salon
As the leading Russian aviation science center, TsAGI is interested in involving gifted youth in research and scientific and technical creativity from an early age. TSAGI is a regular participant in the I.P. Volk Children's Aviation and Space Salon.
The results of the four DAX events, which were reflected in the demonstration of complex, thoughtful, original technical projects, the release of a collection of scientific reports, and the expansion of the geographical presence of the Flying Generation movement, became vivid evidence of how important the connection and continuity of generations, the preservation and development of scientific and engineering schools of the aerospace industry are in modern conditions. as well as support for purposeful, daring, active young people.

Briefly about the history of the salon
For the first time, the DAX was held in 2021 almost simultaneously with the MAKS-2021 International Aviation and Space Salon. From the very beginning, the Children's Air Show has been named after cosmonaut I. P. Volk.
The initiators of the creation of the children's air show were cosmonaut Sergey Konstantinovich Krikalev and the Flying Generation Autonomous Non-Governmental Organization, and its holding was supported by the M. M. Gromov Institute of Physics and Technology, TSAGI, Roscosmos, as well as the Sukhoi Design Bureau and RSC MiG, and many others.

In 2022, the DAX was also held at the end of August, with two days on August 20 and 21. The salon hosted events of the business program, which included seminars, lectures and round tables. Next year, in 2023, a serious business program was organized with the participation of industry experts and this area was actively developed.
Master classes and educational activities for children and teenagers were also held as part of the second children's air show. The event was accompanied by an extensive flight program, which was attended mainly by small aircraft, as well as flights performed by several aircraft from Russian design bureaus.
In 2023, due to the restrictions imposed, the DAX was conducted for one day, on August 26, and was not accompanied by a flight program. The event was moved from the territory of the Mezhdurechye airfield to the Zhukovsky City House of Culture, as well as to the adjacent territory. The program of workshops and educational events held at the children's air show has been expanded.
The special feature of the event is that its entire program is aimed primarily at children and teenagers. At the same time, you can visit DAX for free, all activities and events within the framework of the children's air show are free, this is the principled position of its organizers.
The DAX participants not only organize the work of their stand within the framework of the event, but also carry out various activities aimed at involving children in aviation. Contests and quizzes organized by both the participants of the Children's Air Show and the organizing committee are focused not only on working on the site itself — several contests are held annually as part of the preparation of the DAX, including both engineering and creative ones.
All of them are directly related to aviation and are dedicated to attracting the attention of schoolchildren and developing their interest in the aviation industry in its various manifestations.
One of the main competitions, the winners of which are awarded within the framework of DAX, is the student competition SKAT, during which groups of participants present their own innovative engineering developments in the aviation industry.
Also, starting in 2022, creative competitions are held within the framework of the DAX. In 2022, it was an art competition that included an evaluation of drawings and photographs, and in 2023, a literary competition was held. The members of the Union of Women of Flight Specialties Aviatrice became the members of the jury of both these competitions.
