Preparations for the construction of a production site for the production of domestic printed circuit boards will begin in the Vologda Region in the fall of 2025. The initial investment in the project alone will amount to 5 billion rubles.
Preparations for the construction of a plant for the production of printed circuit boards in the Vologda region will begin in the fall of 2025, RIA Novosti writes, referring to a statement from the regional government. The initial investment will amount to five billion rubles.
The project is being implemented by LLC "Luch" (a new resident of the special economic zone of the Vologda industrial and production type near the village of Leskovo, Vologda Municipal District) and LLC "Nartis Plant", which are part of JSC "National Energy Company" (NEK).
A modern enterprise with a full production cycle will be able to produce 10-15 thousand square meters. m printed circuit boards per month, according to the governor of the Vologda region Georgy Filimonov.
NEK unites Russian enterprises that provide services to electric power and industrial enterprises and produce equipment for them, as indicated on the NEK website, including electrical equipment, intelligent metering devices, automation systems, and an electronic component base. The group also includes Iicontrol, LSVO, Moselectroshchit, NTZMK, and NEK.Tech", "RTK-Electro-M", "Electrosh-K", "Enhim", "Unitel".
The new plant plans to produce fourth-class boards (GOST 53429-2009), which are used in high-performance computing systems, server equipment, telecommunications and medical diagnostic equipment, etc., the report says.
There are also plans to produce HDI-class printed circuit boards for miniature electronics, mobile and wearable devices, which use components with ultra-small pin spacing.
"We are localizing the production of one of the key components for the Russian electronic industry, printed circuit boards," Filimonov said. He noted that the "microcircuit enclosure facility" will also become part of the project.
Recently, many domestic companies have shown interest in producing scarce printed circuit boards in Russia. Statements of intent to start producing boards in 2023 were made by Yadro and NPP Itelma. In November 2023, ICL launched a new motherboard manufacturing plant in Tatarstan. In early February 2024, it became known about the plans of GS Group holding to produce printed circuit boards.
In February 2024, the Beshtau Group of Companies, a manufacturer of domestic computer and server equipment, and Rostintech, a manufacturer of machine tools, created Beshtau Technologies, which registers a patent describing the technology for assembling a line for the production of solid printed circuit boards on equipment from domestic raw materials.
In December 2024, the Russian authorities approved a plan to develop the production of domestic printed circuit boards until 2030 in order to increase the localization of Russian electronics, which still largely consists of foreign components. It was not specified whether the government is going to help enterprises develop the production of printed circuit boards, meaning companies may well have to cope on their own.
