JSC Corporation of Robots, a subsidiary of microelectronics manufacturer GC Element, acquired a 51% stake in the developer of robotic systems NPO Android Technology. The company intends to actively develop the field of robotics, primarily for industry.
JSC Corporation of Robots, which is part of the developer and manufacturer of microelectronics GC Element, has become the owner of 51% of the developer of robotic systems and components for robotics and machine tools JSC NPO Android Technology, Vedomosti writes, referring to a representative of the representative of GC Element. Ot did not name the amount of the transaction.
49% of NPO Android Technology will remain with the company's management. The position of executive director was held by Evgeny Dudorov, who will now become Executive director of the Robot Corporation and will be responsible for the scientific, technological and industrial development of the new direction.
The acquisition was the first in Element Holding's new business line for the development of robotics, the newspaper writes. The group established a legal entity, JSC Corporation of Robots, with an authorized capital of 750 million rubles in March 2025, Interfax reported at the time.
The main type of "subsidiary" of the "Element" in the Unified State Register of Legal Entities is "production of other special-purpose machinery and equipment not included in other groupings" and also "production of industrial robots and robotic devices", "trade in other machinery and equipment", "development of computer software", etc.
One of the first priority projects of the Robots Corporation will be the development of the production of electric motors and servos for the market of industrial robotics, metalworking equipment and production automation systems, and the base site will be the production facilities of Android Technology in Magnitogorsk, a representative of Element told Vedomosti.
The assessment of the amount of the transaction for the acquisition of 51% of Android technology depends on the state of the production base in Magnitogorsk, as well as on the volume of patents, government contracts, unfinished R&D and the prospects for commercialization of a new product line, said Olga Kvashenkina, head of SND Global Holding. The expert believes that the amount could range from 1.5 billion to three billion rubles. The assumption of Alexander Abramyan, head of Alfa Capital's High Net worth department, is much more modest - 500-600 million rubles.
If the company gathers several assets under its management with a focus on industrial automation, this may become an extremely promising area for the development of Element, given its core business — the production of electronic components, commented Sergey Suverov, investment strategist at Arikapital Management Company.
In the future, the Robot Corporation may take a significant double-digit share in the Russian market, said independent analyst Alexei Boyko.
NGO "Android Technology" (NGO "AT") was established in 2009, as indicated on the company's website. AT specializes in the development, production, and maintenance of robotic complexes (RTCs) for various purposes, including biomorphic and anthropomorphic ones. The developments are used in the fields of education, medicine, industry, space exploration and the military. At the moment, more than 120 robotic systems have been developed and more than 60 patents have been obtained.
In 2019, the Russian space robot Fedor was sent to the ISS, created by Android Technology in cooperation with the Foundation for Advanced Research. In April 2017, Fedor scared the foreign media, who mistook him for a "Terminator" and a "killing machine."
The anthropomorphic robot Fedor, aka FEDOR (Final Experimental Demonstration Object Research), is a rescue robot designed to perform various tasks in Earth orbit. Work on the project began in 2014 at the initiative of the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations.
