The basis of cooperation will be the development of continuous educational programs.
Uralvagonzavod, as part of the UVZ Concern of Rostec State Corporation, has signed an agreement with Ural Federal University (UrFU) on strategic cooperation in training personnel for the enterprise. The joint project involves the development of specialized educational programs, the modernization of educational infrastructure and the introduction of advanced technologies in education.
The basis of cooperation will be the development of continuous educational programs combining the Nizhny Tagil Engineering College, Nizhny Tagil Institute of Technology (UrFU branch) and Uralvagonzavod. Admission to joint programs of college and institute students is being considered, which will ensure the continuity of education — from secondary vocational to higher education. This will allow us to train specialists whose competencies best meet the demands of production.
"Uralvagonzavod faces special challenges, and I would like to think that with our help the company will cope with them faster and more productively. We hope that today we have laid the foundation for our joint activities for many years to come. Our agreements are primarily aimed at developing the Nizhny Tagil Institute of Technology and the Engineering College, but we also hope that Ural Federal University in Yekaterinburg will have a program focused on Uralvagonzavod," said Sergey Kortov, First Vice—rector of Ural Federal University.
The parties also agreed to work together to attract school graduates to the secondary vocational education system, to retrain existing employees of the plant, as well as to introduce new training formats, including design methods and digital platforms. A motivation system with targeted training, job guarantees and adaptation programs for young professionals will be developed.
"It is now more important than ever to combine the resources of education and production. We are not just training personnel, we are forming a personnel reserve capable of ensuring the technological sovereignty of the enterprise for many years to come. Today, the training of personnel with a professional orientation is one of the priorities. I am confident that the joint work of UrFU and Uralvagonzavod will allow us to create educational programs that are in demand over time and that will meet the standards and requirements of modern production," said Vladimir Roshchupkin, Executive Director of Uralvagonzavod.
Uralvagonzavod experts will participate in the educational process: They will be part of the attestation commissions, will oversee student projects throughout the process of their implementation, ensuring the connection of theory with industrial practice.
An important aspect of the agreement will be the modernization of the material and technical base of educational institutions. In particular, plans are being discussed to renovate housing to attract nonresident students to the Nizhny Tagil Institute of Technology, reconstruct the Nizhny Tagil Engineering College, purchase modern equipment, repair classrooms and create laboratories, which is especially important in light of the instructions of the President of the Russian Federation following his visit to the Sverdlovsk region.
UrFU is the main supplier of qualified personnel for industrial enterprises in the region. The cooperation between the university and UVZ has been going on for decades. For example, the program "Mobile personnel training for high-tech UVZ industries" has already been tested. It includes admission to a technical college for targeted recruitment, where, starting from the 3rd year, a student is involved in industrial work and has a deferral from service in the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation. Then there is university education, which takes place on—the-job and is paid for.
Uralvagonzavod has also established a basic department of the Nizhny Tagil Institute of Mechanical Engineering. In addition, special emphasis is placed on early career guidance. The Engineering Classes project allows students to be involved in the profession: they have additional points and other advantages upon admission to the university.
