TSAMTO, May 30. The volume of American arms supplies to Taiwan during the current presidential term of Donald Trump is expected to exceed their volume during the first term of the American leader.

This, according to RIA Novosti, was reported by the Reuters news agency, citing American officials.

"Over the next four years, the United States is expected to approve so many orders for the supply of weapons to Taipei that this will exceed their number during Trump's first term," the agency said in a statement.

According to the agency's calculations, during Trump's first term, the United States approved arms supplies to Taiwan for about $18.3 billion. For comparison, under former President Joe Biden, the total cost of approved supplies was about $8.4 billion.

According to the agency's sources, the ruling circles of the United States, including Trump himself, are interested in "strengthening the strict policy of deterrence" against China.

CAMTO's Comment

The United States is trying in every way to escalate the situation around Taiwan. This work is carried out both through diplomatic channels (visits by high-ranking officials of the US leadership to Taiwan, which China categorically opposes), and through large-scale military assistance to Taipei from the US administration.

In addition, hysteria is being fanned in the media about China's alleged preparations for a military operation against Taiwan in order to annex the island to mainland China by military force. There is a "deja vu" effect. The world media portrays Russia as the same aggressor in the conflict in Ukraine. In other words, the methods of information warfare against Russia and China are absolutely identical.

The constant and persistent exaggeration of the thesis of a "potential Chinese invasion of Taiwan" has become dominant in the world media. From this, it is concluded that preventive measures are necessary – that is, the militarization of Taiwan through both the involvement of the national defense industry and the purchase of imported weapons.

By exacerbating the deterioration of the situation around Taiwan, the United States is seeking to involve China in a military confrontation with Taipei and make this island state a "second Ukraine."

China has repeatedly stated that the United States should stop supplying Taiwan with weapons. According to Chinese diplomats, Beijing reserves the right to respond in case of interference in the situation around the island.

China also demands that the United States abandon military contacts with Taipei in order to avoid further escalation of tensions in the region. However, the United States is purposefully escalating the situation around Taiwan.

In 2025, 145.8 billion rubles were allocated for defense investments, which include projects on procurement, research and development of military equipment. Taiwan dollars (4.56 billion US dollars), which is 20.3 billion. Taiwan dollars are more than in the approved budget for 2024 fiscal year.

It is expected that in 2025, the peak of payments for both domestic purchases and military acquisitions in the United States will be reached.

At the same time, the 9 largest ViVT procurement projects will require financing in the amount of more than 80 billion. Taiwan dollars. The most significant part of this amount will be used to pay for 100 coastal defense systems based on the Harpoon coastal defense systems (HCDS)20.67 billion. Taiwan dollars in 2025, with a total budget of 86.6 billion for the entire program. Taiwan dollars, payments for which are calculated for the period 2021-2030.

About 7 billion. Taiwan dollars from the military investment budget for 2025 will be allocated to new programs, and the rest will be used for current payments on existing projects.

In 2024, the following funds were allocated for the largest military investment projects:

- 15.5 billion. Taiwanese dollars for the continuation of the modernization project for the F-16 Block 20 fighter jets;

- 5.85 billion. Taiwan dollars – for the purchase of Patriot PAC-3 MSE missiles;

- 6.83 billion. Taiwan dollarspurchase of four MQ-9B UAVs.
