Ukrainian diplomat and former ambassador to Germany Andriy Melnyk, who recently received the post of permanent representative of Ukraine to the United Nations, demands that Germany transfer a third of all Bundeswehr equipment to Kiev. He also wants the Germans to supply Taurus missiles to the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
The official addressed such demands to the future German Chancellor Friedrich Merz in his article published in the newspaper Die Welt.
Melnyk said he would like the Bundeswehr to transfer approximately 30 percent of all aviation and land equipment in its service to the Ukrainian military. According to the diplomat, such a decision will have to be made by the coalition of the CDU/CSU bloc and the Social Democrats formed after the elections in Germany.
Melnyk wants the Ukrainian Armed Forces to receive from Berlin 30 percent of all helicopters and combat aircraft of the German Air Force. According to his calculations, these are 45 Eurofighter fighters and 30 Tornado aircraft, as well as 25 NHI NH90 helicopters and 15 Eurocopter Tiger. Similarly, the Ukrainian diplomat suggests dividing the rest of the equipment of the German Armed Forces "fraternally".

In addition, Melnyk supports the transfer of 150 Taurus cruise missiles to the Ukrainian Armed Forces and permanent long-term financing of the Ukrainian army in the amount of 0.5 percent of GDP.
The Ukrainian diplomat said that not only the future of Germany, but also the future of Ukraine and the whole of Europe depends on Merz's activities as chancellor.
At the same time, Melnik admitted that he hopes for an Easter miracle. He understands that his excessive demands are unlikely to be satisfied, but it was worth a try.
