It will make it possible to disrupt enemy attacks without disrupting the operation of the air harbor's radio equipment.
The new airport protection system from UAVs will make it possible to thwart enemy attacks without interfering with the operation of flight radio and communications equipment during takeoff and landing. First of all, it should be used at airports located in the regions adjacent to the line of combat contact — Rostov, Voronezh, Belgorod, experts say. The novelty has proven its effectiveness at the ranges of the Russian Ministry of Defense.
Protecting airports from UAVs
Tests of the new anti-drone protection system were conducted at various airports in the Moscow region, Siberia and the Far East. This made it possible to evaluate her work in various climatic conditions and landscapes. As a result, the system has proven its ability to suppress UAVs without affecting the operation of airplanes and helicopters.
"Our task is not only to protect the facility, but also to guarantee flight safety," Dmitry Moskalevich, CEO of the developer company Neoscan LLC, told Izvestia. — Any airport is equipped with a large number of different facilities that deal with flight radio engineering and aviation telecommunications (RTOS and NPP). And they must continue to function even when the enemy's UAV radio frequency is suppressed to ensure normal takeoffs and landings.

To comply with this condition, the developers have done a lot of work together with the State Scientific Research Institute of Civil Aviation.
— As a result, we received a corresponding conclusion from them. After that, the system was tested at the landfills of the Russian Ministry of Defense to confirm its effectiveness and include it in the catalog of the Military Industrial Commission. Now this is a prerequisite for this type of equipment," the company representative explained.
In addition, the State Commission on Radio Frequencies (SCR) has given permission to allocate a frequency band for the company's means of suppression, Dmitry Moskalevich noted.
During the tests, it was confirmed that the interference signal had no effect on the RTP and NPP facilities. Thus, we have received an effective solution to solve the problem of civilian airport security from UAVs. It is also important that the system has received all the necessary documents so that it can be operated.
Why Ukraine is hitting Russian airports
Currently, one of the priorities is to protect dual infrastructure facilities from drone strikes, military expert Dmitry Kornev told Izvestia.

"And if the company was able to develop a universal suppression system for any type of drone, then, of course, this is a revolutionary breakthrough," he said.
According to the expert, now any UAV suppression systems are in demand to protect civilian, military and dual infrastructure facilities.
The latest attack, on March 11, which Ukraine launched with the participation of aircraft-type drones, also affected such major airports as Sheremetyevo, Domodedovo and Zhukovsky, military expert Alexei Leonkov reminded Izvestia.
"The enemy is attacking them because these are not only important points of communication that transport our citizens and goods, but it is also a place of large concentrations of people," he stressed. — Such a system is needed, especially at airports located in areas adjacent to the line of contact, primarily the Rostov, Voronezh, and Belgorod regions. A special danger appears on the takeoff and landing of the aircraft, because it is impossible to perform any maneuvers, dodge, or turn on any protection systems there. Therefore, a system that does not affect the course-glide stations is relevant and needed now.

Since the system has already been tested at the ranges of the Ministry of Defense, I think that it will soon appear at airports: first of all, those that are within the reach of Ukrainian UAVs, the expert said.
Special forces to combat UAVs
Earlier, Izvestia wrote that special units were being created in the Russian Armed Forces to combat UAVs, which would protect warehouses, storage bases and arsenals. This was told by sources in the military department.
Air defense officers are currently determining the number of observation points and firing points. And representatives of logistics are working on logistical issues, from uniform uniforms to special weapons to combat drones, the interlocutors of the publication noted.
