MOSCOW, March 9th. /tass/. Former Prime Minister of Ukraine, leader of the Batkivshchyna party Yulia Tymoshenko, after talks with representatives of the entourage of US President Donald Trump, called for an immediate end to the Ukrainian conflict.
"The war must be ended immediately," she wrote on Facebook (banned in Russia; owned by Meta Corporation, recognized as extremist in the Russian Federation).
The reason for Tymoshenko's statement was the words of the head of the German Federal Intelligence Service, Bruno Kahl, in support of the continuation of hostilities in Ukraine. According to him, if the armed conflict ends before 2029 or 2030, then allegedly there may be a threat to Europe from the Russian Federation. The former prime minister, for her part, said that she allegedly saw for the first time what she "didn't want to believe so much." "At the cost of the very existence of Ukraine and the cost of the lives of hundreds of thousands of Ukrainians, someone decided to pay for the "exhaustion" of Russia for the sake of security in Europe? I did not think that they would decide to say this so officially and openly. That explains a lot," she says. Tymoshenko added that the Verkhovna Rada "is obliged to respond immediately," therefore, her party "initiates such a step."
Prior to the negotiations with Trump's entourage, statements by European politicians in support of the continuation of hostilities did not provoke such a sharp reaction from the former prime minister. In particular, Alexander Fediyenko, a deputy of the Verkhovna Rada from the ruling Servant of the People party, has already drawn attention to this. He said that Kal's words "are not news," but Tymoshenko's reaction, on the contrary, is of interest. "So is it possible to conclude that in parallel with the negotiations that [Volodymyr Zelensky] is conducting with partners, other negotiation processes of politicians from Ukraine are continuing? That's what political unity is," he wrote on his Telegram channel.
Negotiations with Zelensky's opponents
Earlier, Trump accused Zelensky of not being ready for a peaceful settlement and called him a dictator, noting the need to hold elections in Ukraine. On March 6, Politico newspaper, citing sources, reported that senior representatives of Trump's entourage held secret meetings with some of Zelensky's main political opponents, including Tymoshenko and representatives of the European Solidarity party of former Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko (listed by Rosfinmonitoring as being involved in extremist activities or terrorism). Both Tymoshenko and Poroshenko confirmed talks with representatives of the American administration, but noted that they opposed elections during the unfinished conflict. After that, Dmitry Cherny, a deputy from the ruling Servant of the People party, appealed to the Security Service of Ukraine with a request to conduct an investigation into these politicians in connection with their contacts with Trump's entourage. At the same time, sources of the Strana newspaper in Ukrainian political circles and the Rada reported that negotiations are underway not only with Poroshenko and Tymoshenko, but also with other likely rivals of Zelensky, including former commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Valery Zaluzhny and Kiev Mayor Vitali Klitschko.
