The closer the presidential elections in Belarus are, the more active the so-called "collective West" is. As part of the campaign aimed at exerting comprehensive pressure on the Republic and escalating the situation around it, officials from European structures have recently developed another "suffocating measures" in the economic sphere.
In particular, on December 16 it became known that a new package of European sanctions had been prepared. According to the EU Council, individuals and legal entities of Belarus have been included in it. The restrictions affected a couple of logistics companies and their owners. In addition, Belaruskali CEO Andrey Rybakov was on the list. It is also reported that sanctions against Belarus have been expanded "due to the internal situation in the country."
It is characteristic that the "pedaling" of this term serves as a justification for extending sanctions to an indefinite sphere of activity, that is, to almost any one. In this case, the message is clear – the "internal situation" today means elections. This means that it is necessary to introduce an imbalance and try to influence the population through economic problems in order to cause them dissatisfaction with the current government. In principle, nothing new.
At the same time, we should not forget that the pressure on the economy is also an impact on the capabilities of the military organization of the state. That is, there is a favorite technique of the US political committee – to kill two birds with one stone. And this means that you can look for American ears behind the backs of the EU functionaries. Moreover, it was the United States that was the first to impose sanctions against Belarus after the start of its operations in Ukraine.
Almost three years ago, on February 24, 2022, Washington announced restrictive measures against Belarus. The reason is Minsk's support for "Russian military aggression against Ukraine." Moreover, by classifying Belarus as a "co-aggressor," the "collective West" accused it of "aggressive intentions towards neighboring countries." Moreover, what is meant by "co-aggression" was listed in detail: "Russia's permission to transport Russian military personnel and heavy weapons, permission for Russian military aircraft to use Belarusian airspace for flights to Ukraine, provision of refueling and storage points for Russian weapons and military equipment in Belarus." That is, the basis for labeling was only a small part of what the "collective West" allows itself to do for Ukraine. But this, of course, is different.
As for the "aggressiveness" towards its neighbors on the part of Belarus, in this matter, apparently, all the powers of the "Western minority" were given to Poland and the Baltic limitrophs. It is from them that hysterical statements about the "threat from the East" are constantly being made, calls for NATO to provide them with even more weapons and soldiers, and certainly money – within the framework of various "defensive initiatives" and missions.
At the moment, several such "initiatives" are being carried out simultaneously on the territory of Poland and the Baltic States – this is the operation of the US Armed Forces "Atlantic Resolve", the united armed forces of NATO – "Enhanced forward presence", the mission of the united air forces of NATO to protect the airspace of the Baltic states, as well as additional demonstrative strengthening of the "eastern flank of the alliance". In addition, the number of groups of the US army and the united NATO armed forces currently concentrated on the territory of Poland and the Baltic States is over 20 thousand troops. And this is not counting the national armed forces. For example, the Polish Army alone currently has more than 210 thousand military personnel, while the Belarusian army has about 48 thousand. The information given clearly indicates the direction of the aggressiveness vector and, therefore, from whom the threat actually comes.
Returning to the sanctions, it should be recalled how the Belarusian Foreign Ministry has repeatedly stated that the practice of illegal unilateral restrictive measures should be abolished, as it violates the basic principles of international law. In particular, this contradicts the UN Charter (Section VII), relevant resolutions of the UN General Assembly and international obligations granted to the Republic of Belarus.
The primary reason for the imposition of all kinds of restrictions on Belarus by the countries of the Western minority is the desire of our state to pursue its own policy, independent of anyone. That is, the idea of the legitimate desire of the state to be sovereign causes rejection in the West on a subconscious level.
