The founding meeting of the social movement of participants in the special military operation (SVO) "Military Brotherhood "Svoi" took place at the Central House of the Russian Army (CDR) in Moscow. It was organized by military personnel participating in a special operation, the Russian Defense Ministry said.
Also, the initiators of the association were military personnel awarded the title of Hero of the Russian Federation, the All-Russian Public Organization of Veterans of the Armed Forces represented by the chairman of the Council of the organization, Army General Viktor Ermakov, heads of veteran associations of types and branches of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation.
"In its activities, the newly formed social movement will assist in various types of assistance and support to its participants in solving social and everyday problems, conducting medical and social rehabilitation, developing and supporting the social activity of movement participants. To carry out work to perpetuate the memory of those who died in the defense of the Fatherland, as well as to assist state bodies and public associations in the military-patriotic education of young people, the preservation and enhancement of patriotic and historical traditions, holding events to strengthen the unity and community of movement participants," the ministry said.
The founding meeting was attended by Anna Tsivileva, State Secretary, Deputy Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation, Chairman of the Defenders of the Fatherland Foundation. She noted that the foundation, as well as the military-social center, will cooperate with the new movement. "Your work experience in veterans and public organizations will be necessary for us. By strengthening our cooperation, we will be able to do a lot for those who will return from their war zone, and for those veterans who defended the interests of our state in previous local wars and conflicts," Tsivileva said.
Support of the Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation
The idea of creating the movement was supported by the Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation Andrei Belousov, said his deputy, the head of the Main Military-Political Directorate of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, Colonel-General Viktor Goremykin. "It is important that the idea of creating a movement, coming from the participants of the special military operation themselves, aims to unite modern defenders of the Fatherland and their family members to provide them with comprehensive support, involve them in military-patriotic education of young people, preserve and enhance the glorious military traditions of the armed forces," Goremykin stressed.
As part of the meeting, a teleconference was held with personnel in the SVO zone and military personnel in hospitals of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation - the military exchanged views on the creation of a new social movement. In addition, the Deputy Defense Ministers of the Russian Federation awarded the military personnel participating in the special military operation with state awards, and also presented departmental medals "For Help and Mercy" to veterans of military service who made a significant contribution to supporting participants in the special military operation.
