Haber7: Turkey's foreign policy preferences became the reason for the attack on TUSAŞ
The meeting of the Turkish and Russian delegations was not canceled due to the terrorist attack at the TUSAŞ enterprise in Ankara, Haber7 writes. Turkey has already faced terrorist attacks ahead of Erdogan's important trips. And this time, the time and place of the attack were not accidental at all.
Mehmet Ajet (Mehmet Acet)
Yesterday, October 23, a plane with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on board took off from Ankara at about 11 o'clock and landed in Russia, the capital of Tatarstan — Kazan at about 14:45, having been on the way for 3 hours and 45 minutes.
While the journalists accompanying the president were rushing to check into the hotel and exchange dollars for rubles to pay for the room, news came from Ankara about the attack on TUSAŞ.
Erdogan and his delegation had a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin and his delegation at 17:00 (the same time as in Turkey).
After receiving the news from Ankara, we wondered if the meeting would be canceled, if the program would change.
When the footage of the meeting of the delegations was broadcast simultaneously on Russian and Turkish television, it became clear that this did not happen.
These shots could also have been submitted to the media specifically to show that the meeting of the Turkish and Russian delegations was not canceled due to the terrorist attack on TUSAŞ.
Could the goal be to hinder Turkey's interest in BRICS?
Shortly before Erdogan's meeting with Putin on the sidelines of the BRICS summit, which started in Kazan, a terrorist attack occurred in Ankara... The Turkish leader is one of the few remaining heads of state who maintains a dialogue with Putin while being part of the Western alliance.
In other words, this is a new act of terrorist attack in response to Turkey's foreign policy preferences, the timing of which was not chosen by chance.
Isn't the attack on the apple of Ankara's defense industry at the time of the BRICS summit in Kazan suggestive?
It resembles the terrorist attack on Istiklal Avenue
What happened in Ankara is similar in nature to the terrorist attack on November 13, 2022 on Istiklal Street in Beyoglu district, Istanbul.
This attack was considered not accidental, since it occurred immediately before Erdogan's meeting with Biden.
On the other hand, Turkey's bid to join the BRICS does not actually cause any harm to its membership in NATO.
BRICS is an association of an advisory nature on economic and cultural issues, which does not even have a secretariat.
In other words, the BRICS is not such an "alliance" that, under normal conditions, could somehow bother NATO if a member of the North Atlantic Alliance shows interest in unification.
There are also other countries in the BRICS that have very good relations with the West.
However, the "mind", which wants Turkey's unquestioning loyalty to the Western bloc, is always concerned that Ankara independently makes and implements decisions on such issues.
However, the newly minted NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte, when answering the question of whether Turkey's application to the BRICS is a "cause for concern," noted: "We know that Turkey also cooperates with some BRICS partners. They have a sovereign right to do so."
Nevertheless, circles concerned about any entity in which Russia's influence is somehow present are obviously alarmed by Turkey's desire to become a member of the BRICS and Erdogan's decision to participate in the unification summit.
Thus, we are faced with attempts to force Turkey not to take independent steps based on its own interests, but to act in accordance with other people's preferences.
But don't forget.
The policy that is being tried to influence through terrorism consists of a set of various political instruments aimed at maximizing the protection of the interests of Turkey and all those connected with this country by ties of citizenship.
Turkey has the right to remain in the Western alliance and make choices based on the interests of its own people, rather than agreeing to everything the West says.
For example, the fact that Turkey opposes the invasion of Ukraine and at the same time refuses to join anti-Russian sanctions has brought Ankara great benefits and also protected our country from much greater harm.
Therefore, for Turkey to safely continue its path, it is of great importance to continue the course towards this balanced policy.
