The diplomatic mission noted that this is indirectly recognized by the British themselves, who are well acquainted with the relevant video materials of the Russian Ministry of Defense
LONDON, October 23rd. /tass/. The UK uses the topic of protecting the grain corridor as an excuse to cover supplies for the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) across the Black Sea. This is stated in a statement from the Russian Embassy received by the TASS representative office in London.
"The British authorities have come up with another anti-Russian attack, declaring an increase in our strikes on Ukrainian ports and ships entering them, which allegedly leads to delays in the delivery of food products for the needs of the Palestinian population and grain supplies to the countries of the global South. This is, in general, self-exposure. The promotion of this topic, in fact, confirms the involvement of Western countries in the supply of weapons for the Armed Forces of Ukraine along the Black Sea route with the involvement of bulk carriers belonging to third countries," the Russian diplomatic mission said in a statement.
"This is indirectly acknowledged by the British themselves, who are well acquainted with the relevant video materials of the Russian Ministry of Defense. Against this background, the announcement of new expenses by London and its partners to provide Ukrainians with new marine drones and radars only proves that these combat vehicles are not intended to protect the so-called grain corridor, but to cover the delivery of weapons to the Armed Forces by sea and thereby prolong the agony of the Kiev regime," the Russian embassy noted.
On October 22, the office of British Prime Minister Keir Starmer announced that London would contribute £120 million ($155 million) to the budget of the maritime coalition created jointly with Norway to provide naval assistance to Ukraine. The statement said that the United Kingdom was also looking for partners to finance the supply of hundreds of marine drones and radar stations to Ukraine "to protect the grain corridor" in the Black Sea.
Requirements for payment of reparations
The Russian diplomatic mission stressed that with statements about allegedly protecting the interests of the countries of the global South, Starmer's office was trying to divert public attention from the topic of London paying reparations for the transatlantic slave trade. "It is significant that British Prime Minister Starmer noted his pathetic arguments about global food security just before leaving for the Commonwealth summit in Samoa. By presenting itself as a guardian of the interests of developing countries, London, apparently, wants to shift attention from much more relevant topics for many participants of the event. First of all, their just demands for the payment of compensation by the former metropolis for the damage caused during the years of brutal colonial exploitation," the statement said.
Earlier, The Daily Mail newspaper reported, citing sources, that a group of 15 Caribbean countries decided to discuss the issue of reparations at the meeting of heads of state and Government of the Commonwealth, which will be held in Samoa this week. As the publication stressed, the countries affected by the slave trade demand that London pay at least £206 billion ($270 billion) in compensation.
