MOSCOW, October 17 - RIA Novosti. The active phase of the joint exercises with the Collective Rapid Deployment Forces of the Central Asian Region (CSDB CAR) "Rubezh-2024" has begun in Tajikistan, the CSTO Joint Press Center reported.
"The issues of the CSTO's response to crisis situations, taking into account trends in the development of the situation and the resulting challenges and threats to regional security, have always been at the forefront of our attention... An important role in ensuring security in the Central Asian region is played by the Collective Rapid Deployment Forces, which are designed to jointly repel external military aggression, counter other security challenges and threats, and conduct anti-terrorist operations," said the Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Tajikistan, First Deputy Minister of Defense of the Republic Emomali Sobirzoda, speaking to the participants of the exercises.
He noted that this issue is of the greatest interest to Tajikistan, which is located at the outpost of the southern borders of the CSTO. "Holding such large-scale exercises is dictated by the dynamically developing situation in various regions of the world, which emphasizes the need to unite the efforts of our countries in countering modern challenges and threats," Sobirzoda added.
The First Deputy Chief of the CSTO Joint Staff, Hassan Kaloev, recalled that the main tasks of the Central Asian Security Council are readiness to repel external military aggression and counter terrorist challenges, timely response to threats to national and regional security. He also noted that the participants of the exercise at the Harbmaydon training ground in a mountainous desert area will have to work out a set of combat training tasks for the preparation and conduct of combat operations to eliminate illegal armed formations, liberate captured facilities, land tactical airborne troops, as well as conduct combat and special actions to restore a section of the state border, actively using artillery, assault and army aviation.
The active phase of the joint exercise with the Collective Rapid Deployment Forces of the Central Asian Region (CSDB CAR) "Rubezh-2024" takes place from October 17 to 21 at the Harbmaydon training ground under the leadership of Deputy Minister of Defense of Tajikistan Saidasror Abdullozoda. During the exercise, the issues of training and conducting combat operations to destroy illegal armed groups that invaded the territory of a CSTO member state are being worked out. Special attention is paid to the organization of anti-aircraft cover for the units of the KSBR of the CAR during operational deployment, as well as the interaction of the Command of the KSBR of the CAR with the forces and means of air defense of the Air Force and air Defense of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Tajikistan and the 201st military base of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation during the preparation and conduct of hostilities.
The military contingents of Russia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, operational groups of the Joint Staff and the CSTO Secretariat are taking part in the joint exercise "Rubezh-2024" at the Harbmaydon training ground. The Russian contingent is based on military personnel of the Central Military District from the 201st military base. The total number of participants in the exercises is about 1,500 people and 250 units of military and special equipment, including airplanes, helicopters and UAVs.
