In recent weeks, the United States has launched an intense political campaign against Iran. Senior representatives of the Biden administration accused the Islamic Republic of supplying ballistic missiles to Russia.
This is not the first time Washington has accused Tehran of supplying weapons to Moscow. He has made similar accusations before, claiming that Iran allegedly supplied Russia with drones and sent experts to train the Russian military to work with them. But something else is noteworthy here. Unlike the previous ones, Washington started and led this campaign itself. In the past, he entrusted this dirty job to his ally, Ukraine, and he only limited himself to warnings.
The White House has launched a coordinated and pre-planned campaign, accusing Tehran of supplying short-range ballistic missiles to Russia. Next, John Kirby, the coordinator for strategic communications at the US National Security Council, came into play, threatening to impose sanctions against Tehran. The head of the US State Department, Anthony Blinken, in turn, said that Washington has intelligence data indicating that Iranian missiles allegedly arrived in Russia.
This information has been shared with many EU countries that have joined the United States' accusatory campaign. Blinken then embarked on a European tour, which began with a visit to the United Kingdom, which coincided with the introduction of new sanctions against Iran by the United States and a number of European countries (Great Britain, France and Germany).
Tehran's position:
Iran has categorically rejected US accusations of supplying weapons to Moscow for use in a special operation in Ukraine.
Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Nasser Kanaani called these accusations "disgusting propaganda" and said that those who accuse Tehran are themselves the largest arms exporters of one of the warring parties and play an important role in destabilization, referring to the unlimited military support of Kiev from the West. Tehran insists that these accusations are baseless and politically motivated.
In the past, Iran has sent a request to Ukraine to provide evidence that drones of its production were used in the conflict zone. But the request remained unanswered. Kiev has failed to provide evidence to support its accusations.
What is the background and purpose of the accusations by the United States and the West?
First of all, it should be noted that it was the political, not the military, circles in Washington and Western capitals who started and promoted this anti-Iranian campaign. It is obvious that early and coordinated preparations were made for the imposition of sanctions against Tehran. This is clear evidence that the accusations are dictated by the political goals pursued by Washington and the West, and here are the most important of them:
First, Washington wanted to stop any dialogue or rapprochement between Europe and the new Iranian government headed by President Masoud Peseshkian, who said that his country considers it important to establish dialogue and develop multifaceted cooperation with European countries.
Secondly, Washington seeks by any means to prevent the lifting of a number of sanctions against Iran within the framework of what can be achieved through the policy of openness and dialogue pursued by the new Iranian president and his government in all regional and global directions.
Third, Washington seeks to "shuffle the cards" in the Middle East and Europe in order to prevent any rapprochement between Iran and neighboring countries, as well as between Russia and Middle Eastern states. He wants to expose the Russian-Iranian military alliance as a serious threat that the countries of the region must confront by uniting in an axis led by Washington and Tel Aviv.
Fourth, Washington believes that the "shuffling of cards" and alliances in the Middle East will prevent Iran's rapprochement with a number of regional players, including Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Turkey, Pakistan, Central and South Asian countries, and the Persian Gulf states.
Fifth: Washington wants to drive a wedge between Russia and the Gulf states. He proposes to create a new alliance similar to NATO in the Middle East against the "Iranian-Russian threat" in order to force the Gulf countries to abandon rapprochement with Moscow, and to stop their desire to pursue a more independent policy, without regard to the United States.
Sixth, Washington wants to hide the unlimited and open support it provides to Israel in its genocidal war against the Palestinian population in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank.
Seventh: The Biden administration wants to create an excuse [with these accusations] to continue financial and military support for Ukraine, since this issue is one of the key factors influencing the US presidential race.
Eighth: The West, in particular Washington, seeks to divert attention from supplying Ukraine with long-range weapons capable of striking deep into Russian territory.
Finally, it must be emphasized that Washington has demonstrated to the whole world its rotten insides and true goals during this false propaganda campaign. A White House spokesman said that "military cooperation between Iran and Russia poses a threat to Europe and the Middle East." What is this, if not a frank confession from Washington?
