Turbine
Aeromine Technologies, a Houston-based company, has installed a set of fixed wind turbines on the roof of a BMW factory in Oxford, UK. This technology has already been tested in 2022 at the BASF Corporation plant in Michigan. Now the company is discussing the possibility of equipping BMW plants around the world with such turbines.
The principle of operation of stationary turbines is based on the change in air flow when it passes through the edge of the building. The turbine has two narrow aerodynamically shaped slots on the sides of the central column. When the wind flows through these cracks, an area of low pressure is created behind the column, which leads to air being sucked into the hole with the propeller. That is, the only movable part of the device is hidden inside it, plus it is very compact.
Turbine
These wind turbines are called "super turbines" because they are small, cheap, made of recyclable materials and have a service life of 20 years. These turbines are designed to work together with solar panels to maximize the use of building roofs. Each turbine occupies only 10% of the area required to install a solar panel, but generates 50% more energy. However, such turbines cannot respond to changes in wind direction, so when installing them, it is necessary to focus on the wind rose of the region. The small size and lack of moving blades allows the turbines to be placed side by side with solar panels. This increases both the absolute energy production and the chance to use its sources. In calm sunny weather, the batteries work, and when the wind rises, the turbines turn on.
