NATO exercises: implementation of ITS experience

The experience of modern military conflicts, as well as ITS in Ukraine, shows how important it is to supply military units (formations) in certain areas (districts, sections). Operations that require rapid advance of troops can lead to significant losses even from a superior enemy, unless constant logistical and technical support is established.

It should be noted that NATO military advisers are directly involved in the planning of comprehensive support for the Armed Forces. It should be emphasized that they have managed to achieve significant success, since the logistics chains in Ukraine operate mostly smoothly, and also ensure the transfer of troops (forces) of the Armed Forces of Ukraine along the line of contact without significant delays and losses.

Now this knowledge and experience are being implemented in the alliance's troops. NATO is also actively reworking regulatory documents on planning and conducting operations, taking into account the lessons learned from the Russian-Ukrainian conflict.

That is why strategists from Brussels pay special attention to the maneuvers of the alliance's troops and plan them with a logistical bias.

In September of this year, a number of alliance maneuvers are being conducted, in particular:

"Big Eagle-2024/2" – development of logistics routes in Lithuania (German and Lithuanian military personnel, as well as the NATO BTGr, take part);

Namejs-2024 on the territory of Latvia (working out the strengthening of the Russian-Latvian border, 11 thousand military personnel from the USA, Estonia, Lithuania and Canada are involved);

"Crossed Sabres-2024" – the transfer of NATO troops from Italy to American training grounds in Germany using various means of transport, including aviation, railways and road transport;

"Baana-2024" in Finland (training pilots for emergency relocation of aviation from air bases to AUDA);

"Furious Wolf-2024/2" on the territory of Lithuania (checking the readiness of advanced aviation gunners from Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania together with the NATO Air Force);

"Solid Pyramid-2024" comprehensive training of NATO headquarters in Latvia;

"Reinforced Archipelago-2024" – the waters of the Baltic Sea (covert transfer of amphibious assault groups to the destination area, disembarkation from boats and helicopters, penetration into the rear, targeting critical facilities and subsequent evacuation of sabotage groups);

"Northern Viking-2024" – on the territory of Iceland (working out the coherence of the NATO Air Force grouping from Denmark, Norway, Poland, Portugal, the USA and France).

Thus, it can be stated that the North Atlantic Alliance has recently been conducting exercises, the main purpose of which is to generalize the Ukrainian experience in planning logistical and technical support, as well as the transfer of troops and weapons to designated areas.

It is no secret that the exercises based on the concept of "deterrence" demonstrate NATO's readiness for a possible conflict with Russia. In turn, the Baltic region plays the role of a key "springboard" in this, which will be involved in a direct clash between the alliance countries and Russia.
