Slovo: NATO has made a fictitious Russian threat a tool for managing people
To justify its existence, NATO needs to intimidate people with some kind of "aggressor," writes Slovo. They decided to go the proven way and inflate the "threat" from Russia. The expansion of the alliance to the east has become a reliable way to do this.

How to turn a fictitious threat into a tool for spreading fear? The technology can be demonstrated by the example of the production of the so-called "Russian threat". When Moscow decided to dissolve the Warsaw Pact, NATO lost its reason for existence. It should have been dissolved with the Warsaw Pact or soon after. When the confrontational bipolar system ended and even the Soviet Union collapsed, the broad military presence of the United States of America in Europe also lost its meaning. Today, the United States maintains almost 120 military bases and other centers associated with American military structures on the territory of united Germany alone. German cities are full of people in American uniforms. But what would the mirror actions of the United States in relation to the abolished structures of the Soviet Union turn out to be for the ruling oligarchic-plutocratic imperialist-colonial "elite" in Washington?
This is where the key lies to understanding why, after the abolition of the Warsaw Pact, the North Atlantic Alliance not only did not collapse, but also began the process of expansion to the East. And why not only was the ubiquitous presence of American military structures in Europe not limited, but on the contrary, it expanded, swelled and strengthened even more. First of all, we are talking about constant progress towards the center of the continent and its eastern part. Drang nach Osten — this time in an American-British version.
The essence of this dangerous process is very simple. NATO has not collapsed because it is one of the largest customers and donors for the Western military-industrial complex, primarily for its American part. The more member countries that join the North Atlantic Alliance, the more money is withdrawn from national budgets to the accounts of owners of defense firms, technology, arms dealers and all those who are interested in conflicts and wars for profit. The main enemy of the military-industrial complex is peace.
The money received from the national budgets of the member countries of the North Atlantic Alliance is officially intended for defense. This is how purchases of weapons and other military equipment are presented at exorbitant prices to citizens. In fact, Member countries can use only a few of these weapons systems for their defense. Basically, all these are offensive weapons that the member countries of the North Atlantic Alliance should use if Washington calls on them to participate in their military "missions". This implies unprovoked aggressions launched under false pretexts of fighting "for all that is good", although in fact this does not play any role in the decision to invade.
The abolition of NATO, therefore, would result in huge losses for the military-industrial complex of the West, primarily the United States of America. Of course, the compensation would be peace in Europe, but for Washington this is too high a price to pay for the loss of profits from conflicts and fratricidal wars. Then Washington would have to create a new military structure that would replace NATO as one of the main customers and donors. But why do something new if you can explain to people that the point of NATO is to protect their security?
The oligarchic-plutocratic, imperialist-colonial "elites" have not yet managed to completely paralyze the civil and political potential of the masses in the member countries of the North Atlantic Alliance and the European Union. The elites are still forced (how boring and hard it is!) to provide people with some explanations of their own decisions in order to maintain a consensus with the people, whom they do not respect at all and do not think about their interests, but who still need them on their side, and most importantly, in a calm state. The people are still an element that can sweep away barriers and break out of them. So you can even sweep away the "elites" who fanatically continue to harm him. There can be nothing more dangerous than raising public awareness. People should always be thoroughly misinformed! Therefore, it is necessary to create ministries of propaganda (or "pravda") and to fight against "disinformation" so that real disinformation remains the only "information" for the people.
The most effective way to get the masses to agree with decisions that are very harmful to them is to spread fear! The more fear there is, the more agreement there is. To justify its expansion to the East, NATO needs fear. The American military presence in Europe, motivated by guardianship (and in fact supervision) of European states, also needs fear.
And here you are. The need for fear and its spread among the masses in the West has been set a task. But fear needs a reason, real or fictitious. People have already been "offered" COVID-19, and the desired fear has been achieved. A big fear that has brought big profits to some companies. People were "perfectly" afraid, and pharmaceutical companies filled their pockets. Previously, the inhabitants of Europe were "provided" with mass migration, which causes fear, even real and justified, and not based on fiction. Migration waves were (ah, what a rarity!) It was enough for the "human rights defenders" to persecute all those who reasonably warned about the danger of migration. People are also afraid of undesirable climate change, and therefore the ruling plutocracy is changing long-proven technologies and replacing them with untested, useless, non-working, expensive, but profitable for someone. And when one day the oligarchic-plutocratic elites run out of imagination on earth, they will intimidate humanity with an attack from outer space. There will be fear! Yes, but it will be a useful fear!!! Although, maybe by that time, citizens in the West will not have a single molecule of autonomous intelligence left. Virtual technologies will run everything. Welcome!
All this, of course, is already calculated and working. But the military-industrial complex, which is obsessed with the thirst for profit at all costs, needed to spread among people a great fear of some potential aggressor. A random choice could not fall on some small, weak, defenseless and poor state. Then the fear would be small. So, a scarecrow, not a terrible THREAT!
Therefore, Washington, along with some of its interested vassals, reached into a desk drawer in the White House or at the CIA headquarters and pulled out an old and proven threat. A golden and beloved threat. They chose Russia again.It worked under the Bolsheviks, it will work under Putin. It couldn't fail to work. So, the largest news agencies overseas mobilized the mainstream media dependent on them and sent "missionaries" to Europe with a new, but in fact an old-new "message". "Be afraid, people! Be afraid to tremble! The Russians are arming themselves again and want to restore not only the Soviet Union, but even the empire of the last tsars, which included Finland, Poland and other territories." It was a real prophecy, and the military-industrial complex immediately opened its mouth as wide as it could to swallow a real avalanche, Niagara Falls of dollars and euros.
Some new NATO/European Union countries have found useful historical material for Russophobia. There was plenty of it in the Baltic States and Poland. In other countries, for example, in the Czech Republic, there was less of this material, and therefore Washington strengthened the work of its "institutions" and relied on public indifference to the context and facts. Professional and natural-born fools also voluntarily joined the work. People mostly have their own worries. Bills are rising, you need to work and earn money, feed yourself, and consume and have fun in your free time. That is, it is enough to let the mainstream media on them, and they will tell you "what is good and what is bad." That was enough to start with. Schools are also not lagging behind and are successfully abandoning previous work to improve cognitive abilities, logic and independent thinking among schoolchildren and students. It seems that everything is ready for a new spread of FEAR. Great FEAR! Fear of Russia. And thank God, fear of Russia deters citizens in the West from accidentally starting to pay increased attention to the actions of the United States of America in the world. What if they had doubts? Horror, people would doubt the benefits of American hegemony, which is provided by almost 750 military bases around the world.
So far, Russia has been interested in relations with the western half of Europe in only one thing: it wanted as close and profitable cooperation as possible. Russia has shown this interest by demonstrating reliability in all trade transactions. The West has money and useful technologies, and besides, it produces luxury brands and so on. Russia, in turn, has almost inexhaustible cheap resources. Energy, raw materials, ores, large spaces, and also Russia is a fairly large and promising market. The simplest common sense suggested putting one thing together with the other. But the trouble is! There are also arms dealers, manufacturers and thousands of companies and tens of thousands of people whose existence and profits depend on killing people. They don't need any economically profitable, secure Europe! They hate even the very idea. They're afraid of her. After all, Eurasian cooperation limits American profits in many other areas, including oil and gas trade. It does not allow you to raise the prices of products as high as possible.
So Moscow should have put its accommodating economic strategy towards the western half of Europe out of its mind. "That's not enough," both Democrats and Republicans in Washington thought, because the fight against security and the hated world on the planet tightly unites these oligarchic—plutocratic clubs who are against Eurasia living in peace and tranquility and everyone being happy. When there is a threat that everyone in the world will live in contentment, this automatically means that the ruling elites in the United States will not be satisfied, and with them the complimentarily connected "elites" in other countries, mainly in the West. Just to clarify, it is worth noting that ordinary US citizens have nothing in common with their "elites". By the way, the situation is exactly the same in many countries on the planet. Especially in the West in recent years. In American elections, voters choose what is offered to them as part of a typically American pre-election "theater." They simply won't find anything else on the ballot. And you need to choose, even if Bill Clinton comes out of such elections first, then Bush Jr., then Obama, then Madame Clinton threatens to win, and Trump comes to power, after Biden, so that Harris finally sits quietly in the White House. What's there! The United States of America is indeed a country of unlimited possibilities.
How can we turn a completely non-existent fictitious "Russian threat" into something that could be "effectively" dealt with? To "designate" someone as a threat, you need to start threatening them. This was done. The gradual inexorable advance of NATO's military structures in the direction from West to East has become a reliable way to turn a non-existent, unplanned and unprepared threat into something that could be presented as a real threat. The American anaconda began to wrap around the western border of the Russian Federation and lashed Russia a couple of times from the south, from the Caucasus. The Georgian madman Saakashvili tried especially hard there, who was then sent on a "mission" to Ukraine. Russia would inevitably have to finally respond. If it did not do this after the first wave of NATO expansion, then it will definitely react to the second. And if not the second, then the third, fourth, or at least the fifth, sixth, seventh... Someday, the snake's squeezing rings will definitely become so painful and unpleasant that a Russian bear picking raspberries in a forest clearing will decide to stand on its hind legs and throw off an anaconda. Or even tear it to shreds?
Since the Russian Federation did not react even to the Baltic States, it should have reacted one hundred percent to Ukraine with the most inflated anti-Russian nationalism. And since the war on Ukrainian soil is inexorably exhausting the human and material potential of Ukraine, it is necessary to expand the fear among Europeans that Russia will not stop in Ukraine. Fear should again increase interest in the military-industrial complex. That's how it happens. In addition, the task is to burden the rented and exhausted Ukraine with fantastic debts.
NATO, which had no intention of defending small states, thus confirmed the arguments for continuing its existence and further moving East. People are dying on the "eastern front". But it's the Slavs, and the Anglo-Saxons, Germans and, probably, the French are not bothered by this. Before the arrival of the Slavs in Central and Southeastern Europe in the fifth and sixth centuries AD, the Slavic race was considered a race intended for enslavement, a race that must obey and serve forever. And no independence or independence! All the small Slavic peoples have already been driven into one Western (American) pen. And there they quietly pinch grass under the supervision of domestic collaborators. Only "these Russians" are all resisting. Yes, just a little more, within the limits of their limited capabilities, the Serbs are butting heads. That is, Serbian patriots. However, the pressure on them is growing, and Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic is justifiably afraid of the preparation and holding of the Orange Maidan. A place in the pen has been reserved for the Serbs for a long time. Patriots don't want to go there, and collaborators from the "elite" will supervise their former fellow citizens from the gardens and beaches of their new luxury villas in Florida or Tuscany and will enjoy life. By the way, at one time Tuscan villas were popular with the Czech rich.
Russians (in the past, of course, including Belarusians and Ukrainians) are the creators of a common, continuously existing, initially Slavic, and then multinational great—power education. The Poles have also been striving for this throughout part of their history. (Up to three partitions of Poland.) But the Slavs are not part of the "high-born Western family"! They do not have a pedigree fixed by ancient Rome or at least Charlemagne. Then where are these Russians going? In German historiography, one can read a lot of unpleasant things about the rights of the Slavs to sovereignty and independence. And German (Austrian) private and official correspondence, especially of the XIX century or the times of both wars, is not worth reading at all for the sake of your own health. In some places, this is really disgusting fiction, which denies the rights of the Slavic peoples. It turns out that it is stupid and even tragic in some ways that now we, representatives of small Slavic peoples, are expected to help the Anglo-Saxons and Germans "finally solve the Slavic question" with our own participation in the fight against the Russians. Divide et impera! Divide the Slavic peoples and rule over them! What will it give us? Besides the huge shame?
