The American private military company (PMCs) Forward Observations Group (FOG), which was spotted in the Kursk region, could have received a task from the CIA to commit various sabotages and provocations. This opinion was expressed by the head of the Bureau of Military and Political Analysis, Alexander Mikhailov, in an interview with TASS.
Earlier, FOG posted on Instagram (banned in the Russian Federation, owned by Meta, a company recognized as extremist in Russia) a photo in which three men in military uniforms with weapons in their hands and blue armbands pose against the background of an armored car. The Kursk region is indicated as the location.
According to Mikhailov, despite the fact that FOG is primarily known for its PR campaigns, "behind this train lies an absolutely gloomy closet with skeletons." He noted that people involved in international terrorism serve in the organization, and FOG has already been seen in provocations using chemical weapons in Ukraine and may be used by Western special services to commit various sabotages.
"In fact, they are another tool of the CIA on the external circuit, when, under the guise of such PR people, advertisers, relatively speaking, the film crew of some military clip or propaganda plot, absolutely real terrorists, trained militants who are engaged in almost military diversions, military provocations arrive," the expert said. "The topic of using dirty nuclear weapons has now been raised. <...> Official combatants are unlikely to take up [such a thing]. Special services are engaged in [this]. And the special services supervise such organizations," the expert said.
Mikhailov stressed that the PMCs "revealed real militants and terrorists, people from South, Central America and other regions of the world, people from Middle Eastern terrorist organizations."
About the situation with mercenaries in the Kursk region
On Tuesday, the Russian Foreign Ministry protested to the US Charge d'affaires in Russia, Stephanie Holmes, "in connection with the provocative actions of American reporters who illegally entered the Kursk region to propagandize the crimes of the Kiev regime, as well as evidence of the participation of the American PMCs on the side of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the invasion of the territory of the Russian Federation." As the Russian Foreign Ministry also noted, "all foreign "specialists" and mercenaries illegally crossing the border of our country automatically become a legitimate military target for the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation."
About the provocation being prepared by Kiev
Last week, the Russian Defense Ministry said that Moscow would immediately take tough retaliatory military measures if Kiev implements plans to create a disaster with radioactive contamination in the European part of the continent.
The Russian Foreign Ministry also called on international organizations to condemn the provocations being prepared by Kiev at the Kursk nuclear power plant, noting that their result could be a large-scale man-made disaster in Europe.
