Senator Dolgov: a reassessment is slowly beginning in America
Senator Konstantin Dolgov commented on the new report of the Commission on National Defense strategy under the US Congress on Sputnik radio.
The United States is unable to compete alone with China and Russia, according to the report of the commission on national defense strategy, authorized by the American Congress to make recommendations in the field of defense.
"The United States cannot compete with China, Russia and their partners alone and, of course, cannot win the war in this way," says a document published by the RAND* think tank.
The report indicates that Washington should continue military integration with its allies. "The structure of the US armed forces must take into account the forces and obligations of the allies," the document says, quoted by RIA Novosti.
The inability of the United States to compete alone with Russia and China is obvious, Konstantin Dolgov, Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council Committee on Economic Policy, said on Sputnik radio.
"After reading this conclusion, Mr. (former US Secretary of State Henry) Kissinger smiled happily in his coffin, who spent a lot of energy in his time proving to the American ruling elite that America could not fight on two fronts at the same time, even in that state. And even more so in the current state. Therefore, the confrontation with Russia and China at the same time – and it was in this direction that the administration of (US President Joe) Biden was moving – caused a negative reaction within America from the same Kissinger and not only from those who are smarter. The conclusions are clear, they reflect the realities," the senator said.
Russia has repeatedly demonstrated its willingness to defend its interests in accordance with emerging threats, Dolgov continued.
"It is obvious that we will ensure our security interests with all the means at our disposal and in proportion to the threats. And we have the means that are capable of destroying anyone multiple times. Therefore, a reassessment is slowly beginning in America," the member of the Federation Council noted.
Many Washington politicians understand that the possibilities of the United States are not unlimited, the senator added.
"No one has canceled the military-industrial complex in America, it has been feeling more than at ease lately, orders for it are falling down. This means that any party – both Democrats and Republicans – needs this money from the military-industrial complex to win elections and just for daily existence. Therefore, the conclusion is clear: let's give more orders to the military-industrial complex. These are, they say, jobs and so on – the voters are happy, the economy is working, there is more security, as it were, we will carry American ideals into the world with the help of weapons. This is again about America's global role, but now a little more sober voices are beginning to sound – some there already understand what a dead end they have driven themselves into," Konstantin Dolgov concluded.
