In Russia, they are creating a light military vehicle Vityaz with an electronic warfare system Breakwater

For Russian intelligence groups and special operations forces operating at the forefront in the area of the SVO, a light military vehicle "Vityaz" is being created, equipped with an electronic warfare system "Breakwater", Konstantin Bagdasarov, CEO of the company developing this machine, Argo LLC, told RIA Novosti.
"When creating the Vityaz project, we proceeded primarily from the desire to make a lightweight, easy-to-handle car, which at the same time would have a powerful traction diesel engine and would be protected by such an effective modular electronic warfare system as the Breakwater for our fighters from intelligence groups and special operations forces operating in the SVO zone. Today, the first prototype of the car has almost been assembled," he said.
As Bagdasarov said, the developers took the chassis of the UAZ 469 car as the basis for the Vityaz, but installed a diesel engine with a capacity of about 100 horsepower and a torque of about 250 Newton meters at 1600 rpm instead of a gasoline engine. In addition, the chassis is equipped with both a stationary and a mobile electronic warfare system "Breakwater". As weapons, anti-aircraft machine guns can be mounted on the machine, paired with a large-caliber KPVT machine gun.
The developer called the main advantage of the new car driving performance and unpretentiousness in maintenance.
"The machine for fighters operating on the front line should be simple so that it can be quickly repaired in the field. Gasoline-powered cars used today have various complex electronic control systems that, in conditions of constant operation and dirt, have a risk of failure. In the case of Vityaz, anyone with a minor technical education will be able to quickly sort it out and put it in order," the agency interlocutor explained.
Speaking about the tasks that Vityaz can perform, Bagdasarov noted that we can also talk about covering units during their rotation on the front line.
According to him, in the near future the machine should go to the test site, during which its declared technical characteristics and the operation of the electronic warfare system installed on it will be checked.
It is expected that Vityaz will be presented at the Argo exposition within the framework of the Army-2024 military-technical forum.
The electronic warfare system "Breakwater" was first presented at the military-technical forum "Army-2023". It is made in the form factor of a small-sized cone (length - 484 millimeters, weight – 13 kilograms), which is installed with magnetic Velcro on any military (tanks, armored personnel carriers, boats, etc.) and civilian equipment.
The key feature of this complex is its modularity – the "Breakwater" prescribes those frequencies that are necessary to suppress the enemy's FPV drones on a specific section of the front in real time. The Breakwater operators install new cones on the machines, thereby modifying their electronic warfare system to meet specific current threats.
