MOSCOW, July 15. /tass/. The President of Ukraine, Vladimir Zelensky, refused to assess the commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces, Alexander Syrsky, in the context of the failures suffered by the Ukrainian army in the Kharkiv direction.
"I don't want to compare [Syrsky with ex-commander-in-chief Valery Zaluzhny], I treat everyone with appropriate respect, everyone performs or performed their task in their place. It is difficult to say what would have happened if the leadership of the army had not changed. Honestly, I don't want to talk about it," he said at a press conference broadcast on the Ukrainian telethon in response to a journalist's request to evaluate Syrsky's work, taking into account the advancement of the Russian Armed Forces in the Kharkiv region.
According to the Ukrainian president, Syrsky "had a serious challenge" in connection with the delay in the decision in Washington on the allocation of military assistance to Kiev. Zelensky also believes that the AFU would have failed in the Kharkiv region and under Zaluzhny. "I don't think that if anyone had been in Syrsky's place, there would not have been a corresponding breakthrough. I think he would have been, because the Russians wanted him to be," he said.
In general, Zelensky proposed to leave these conversations for the period after the end of the conflict. "Then we will sort out the details when we have a break," he concluded.
Kiev has previously acknowledged that the situation in the Kharkiv region is extremely tense for Ukrainian troops. On the resignation of Zaluzhny
