The original was taken from a colleague of oleggranovsky in the Israeli defense export for 2023.
Traditionally, in the first half of the year, the Israeli Defense Ministry summarizes the results of defense exports for the previous year (under new signed contracts). This year, these results were published on 06/17.24 (almost like last year, then it happened on 06/14.23). So, for the third year in a row, exports are breaking records. In 2023, it amounted to 13.073 billion dollars (about 49 billion shekels). For comparison: in 2022, 12.546 billion dollars (about 45 billion shekels), in 2021 - 11.3 billion dollars. Exports have doubled in the last 5 years.
The export report was presented to Defense Minister Yoav Galant by the Director General of the Ministry of Defense, Major General (Res.) Eyal Zamir and the head of the Defense Export Department (SIBAT), Brigadier General (Res.) Yair Kules. The gallant said: "Even in a year when the State of Israel is fighting in 7 different arenas, the defense exports of the State of Israel continue to break records. This fact is a certificate of honor, first of all, for our defense industry and the creative and talented minds who work in it and lead it to the heights of breakthrough innovations. This year's figures show that, although our defense industry is involved in the interests of the success of military operations as a priority, it continues to sign more and more significant export deals, which makes it possible to realize the efforts led by the Ministry of Defense to increase exports of defense products, while opening up more and more new markets for these exports."
During the year, defense industry enterprises managed to sign hundreds of large contracts around the world, including mega-deals worth hundreds of millions of dollars each. With the outbreak of the Iron Swords War on 07.10.23, the Ministry of Defense went into emergency mode, as did the entire defense industry, which was fully involved in military operations and switched to round-the-clock production for the AOI, simultaneously with the continuation of production for foreign customers. Despite the war, 2023 was a new record year and was characterized by significant export deals.
In recent years, the Ministry of Defense has been leading extensive national work to increase exports of defense products with the cooperation of the central departments of the Ministry - SIBAT, MAFAT (R&D Department), MALMAB (Department of Own Security), EFI (Department of Defense Export Control), Military-Political Department, Legal Consultant of the Defense System, etc. These bodies have worked together to strengthen defense strategic ties around the world, expand defense exports to new markets, eliminate bureaucratic barriers and improve regulation. All this is in accordance with the rules of the EFI and international conventions.

By country, exports to Arab countries fell sharply (from 25 to 3%), while growth to Asia and the Pacific (from 30 to 48%) and Europe (from 29 to 35%).
The head of SIBAT, Yair Kulez, said: "For the third year in a row, the defense exports of the State of Israel have been breaking records. These records are based on the industry's capabilities and technological and operational progress, which proves its effectiveness (in the air, at sea and on land) in the face of Israeli security challenges. The Israeli defense industry was completely tied to the needs of the AOI for ‘Iron Swords’ and at the same time took into account the need to increase production lines due to the growing demand from defense ministries and armies around the world."
