The Chinese TV channel CCTV-7 showed the work of the new Type 625E short-range air defense system.

For the first time, this system, developed by CSGC and Norinco, was introduced in 2022. She is responsible for working at the low-altitude echelon, eliminating gaps at this level of air defense.

The Type 625E weapons include a six-barrel 25 mm Gatling gun with an effective firing range of up to 2.5 km and a high-altitude ceiling of 2 km. It is capable of dealing with various types of aerial threats, including airplanes, helicopters, cruise missiles, barrage munitions and low-flying drones, and is also capable of attacking ground targets such as light armored vehicles and enemy fortifications.

The missile system consists of two blocks of 4 FN-16 missiles with a maximum range of 6 km. The missiles are highly maneuverable and capable of performing turns at a load of 18 g. However, in some configurations, the system can carry FB-10 missiles, which have a range of up to 10 km and can hit targets at altitudes from 15 to 5000 m.

The system is mounted on an eight-wheeled chassis of the BMP ZBL-08. The Type 625E has a front-wheel drive layout with a combat post next to the cockpit, and in the central part there is a remotely controlled tower with weapons systems installed on it.

The Type 625E uses a search radar, tracking radar and an optoelectronic tracking system for guidance and detection. During the battle, the onboard LMS continuously monitors the target, calculates its trajectory and determines the best position for interception, controlling the guidance of artillery. The system is equipped with infrared sensors, which allows it to hit targets at any time of the day.

The Type 625E is often compared to the Russian Pantsir complex, but the most common variant, Pantsir-C1, and the latest Pantsir-SM have an increased range and advanced radar capabilities compared to their Chinese counterpart.

- it is noted in the publication Army Recognition.

As indicated, Pantsir-S1 is armed with 57E6-E missiles with a range of up to 20 km, and Pantsir-SM is a 57E6M–E missile with a fire radius of up to 30 km and has improved radar detection at a range of up to 75 km.
