Rostec will train a thousand mentors for industrial enterprises by 2026

Rostec State Corporation is launching a professional mentor training program aimed at accelerating the adaptation of new employees of the Corporation's industrial enterprises. By the end of 2025, Rostec Academy will train about 1,000 such specialists within the framework of the Mentor School.

The Mentor School is a new educational program of the Rostec Academy, initiated by the State Corporation's Personnel Management Department. The purpose of the program is to introduce common principles and approaches to mentoring at Rostec industrial enterprises. The educational project is aimed at specialists who perform the functions of a mentor, as well as employees responsible for organizing the mentoring system in the organization, including internal trainers.

"In the context of the growth of the state defense order and the production program, the industry is in dire need of an influx of personnel. In 2023 alone, more than 70 thousand additional people were employed at Rostec enterprises. The demand for attracting and retaining specialists is still high. In this situation, the crucial role is played by tools that make it possible to ensure the influx of qualified workers in a short time. Mentoring is the most effective tool for rapid learning in the workplace. The program will focus not only on the transfer of skills and knowledge, but also on the formation of mentored corporate values and government thinking. In two years, we plan to train at least 1,000 professional mentors for the Corporation's enterprises. In general, common principles and approaches to mentoring have already been implemented in more than 60% of the Corporation's organizations," said Yulia Tsvetkova, Director of Personnel Management at Rostec State Corporation.

Graduates of Rostec's Mentor School will learn how to adapt new employees through production staff. A set of educational tools is used for training, including interactive lectures, practical exercises, discussions and group work, analysis of practical situations, simulations and role–playing games.

The first pilot set of the Mentor School took place in early April. It was attended by 20 representatives of Rostec organizations from different regions of the country. The training for them was organized at the expense of the Corporation. The students of the School were able to gain and consolidate the skills of effective interaction with the "recruits" of industrial enterprises, learned how to set tasks, provide feedback, and completed trainings and practices necessary for working with staff, taking into account the mentor profile approved by the Corporation. As noted at the Rostec Academy, in the near future, the process of training mentors is planned to be massive in order to cover the entire contour of the Corporation.

"Being a mentor is not only about teaching a ward to make a specific number of units of production in a certain period of time. This includes an educational function, work with values, and the development of personal competencies of the mentee. All this requires dedication from the mentor, professional qualifications and, of course, a high degree of personal commitment to the values of his company and the Corporation as a whole. Within the framework of the Mentor School, we will not only conduct training sessions for specialists, but also plan to create a corporate knowledge base for the professional community of mentors at Rostec enterprises, conduct regular webinars and other educational activities for them," said Andrey Chobotov, General Director of the Rostec Academy.

In the future, the program operator plans to organize the training of specialists capable of ensuring the adaptation and development of not only line workers, but also middle and senior managers. The program's focus will also be expanded to train mentors for schoolchildren, students, as well as mentors to transfer key knowledge and skills.
