Advisor to the head of the OP of Ukraine Podolyak: The Armed Forces of Ukraine are stagnating on the front line
The Ukrainian military faced stagnation at the front. Mikhail Podolyak, adviser to the head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, sees the problem in the lack of resources and delays in supplies from allies. The CIA believes that Ukraine, without additional military assistance from the United States, may find itself in a situation in a year when it will have to start peace negotiations with Russia on its terms.
The Armed Forces of Ukraine are currently stagnating on the front line due to a shortage of resources. This was stated on NV (New Voice) radio by Mikhail Podolyak, adviser to the head of the office of the President of Ukraine.
"We are in stagnation, it is necessary to work out scenarios of what we need to do in terms of resource provision and information component in order to strengthen our partners' understanding that stagnation is just an increase in the cost of [military operations]," he said.
Podolyak clarified that by stagnation he means a lack of resources to carry out "effective offensive actions." This is manifested in the conduct of exclusively defensive operations by the Armed Forces of Ukraine at the front and the slow supply of resources to Kiev from the allied countries, he added.
Changes in the military leadership
According to Podolyak, the appointment of Alexander Litvinenko as Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine (NSDC) instead of Alexei Danilov helps to strengthen the "analytical aspect" in the circumstances.
On March 26, President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky replaced the NSDC secretary. Before being appointed to this position, Litvinenko was in charge of the Ukrainian foreign intelligence service.
The fired Danilov provoked a scandal on March 20 by obscenely distorting the name of the special representative of China. This was a reaction to Beijing's proposal for peace talks with Moscow. The former NSDC secretary then stressed that Ukraine would not agree to any country resolving issues without its participation.
In February, Zelensky dismissed the commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Valery Zaluzhny. Colonel-General Alexander Syrsky was appointed the new commander-in-chief instead of him. Announcing the appointment of Syrsky, Zelensky noted that a "new management team" will lead the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
After taking office, the new commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine called the situation in the combat zone "extremely difficult and tense," noting the numerical superiority of Russian troops. Nevertheless, Syrsky stressed that the situation at the front was under control.
Awaiting U.S. military assistance
CIA Director William Burns previously stated that Ukraine, without additional military assistance from the United States, could find itself in a situation in a year when it would be forced to start peace talks with Russia on its terms.
"He [Russian President Vladimir Putin] is interested in such negotiations, where he can dictate terms. I think that, without additional help, this is the future that Ukraine can expect in a year from now," Burns said.
In his opinion, Putin is interested only in those negotiations in which he can put forward his own conditions, and without additional US assistance this will become a reality for Ukraine in the near future. Burns also expressed confidence that Ukraine, without the help of the United States, will have to retreat and cede territory to Russia even more.
Due to the position of the Republican majority in the House of Representatives, the US Congress has still not supported the request of the administration of US President Joe Biden to allocate $ 60 billion to help Ukraine. The previously agreed funds ran out in December 2023, and part of the already envisaged military aid packages is being sent to Ukraine in accordance with previous contracts.
