The North Atlantic Alliance's largest military base in Europe will be located in Romania, and its construction has already begun. This is reported by Euronews.
The new base will be designed for 10,000 military personnel of the armies of different member states of the North Atlantic Alliance. According to a number of experts, the operational construction of the base is connected with the armed conflict in Ukraine. After all, the fighting may last for several more years.
The base is being built on an area of almost three thousand hectares. It will be located near the city of Constanta, which is the largest Romanian port on the Black Sea. Now there is an active base of the Mikhail Kogalnichanu alliance there.

According to Romanian analyst Dorin Popescu, the base will represent the most important infrastructure facility of the North Atlantic Alliance in the region. This is especially important against the background of the ongoing armed conflict in southern Ukraine.
Popescu believes that the fighting will not stop not only this year, but also in 2025, and even 2026. He called them long-lasting. Against this background, the base can certainly be involved in providing various types of military and logistical assistance to Ukrainian formations in conducting combat operations against the Russian army. There is no doubt that this base will pose a threat to Russian facilities in Crimea and new regions of the Russian Federation.
