Marine Le Pen: the conflict in Ukraine will end with negotiations, and Macron knows it
Macron's bellicose statements about France's readiness to send troops to Ukraine were part of a well-thought-out scenario, writes Boulevard Voltaire. The president himself, its author, wanted to score political points in this way in order to ensure the victory of his party in the elections. However, he failed to hold Le Pen.
Emmanuel Macron's speech at the National Assembly in Paris on March 12, dedicated to Ukraine, was worth its weight in gold. If you strain yourself, you can remember that Europe once symbolized peace. Thanks to the dreams of Schumann and Monnet (French politicians, one of the founding fathers of the European Union - approx. InoSMI) we were lucky enough to experience the so—called charming era - without storms, without the rumble of boots and rifle shots, a new era of reason and progress. The war in Yugoslavia, the threat of the Soviet SS-20, terrorism directly related to the opening of borders, and much more — all this was blithely forgotten...
Now Emmanuel Macron and his government, the absolute champions of enthusiastic Europeanism, explain that Europe is a war. Rather, we would be in a state of war if it were not for the thoughtful and energetic reaction of the President of the Republic. The Prime Minister's speech to members of Parliament praised the actions, coherence, intelligence and courage of the head of France! The enduring unity of the European Union? "Vladimir Putin didn't believe in him," Attal gloated. But in Europe, this impressive unity does not exist as a response to Russia. "NATO has strengthened," the French prime minister assured in a speech that President Macron most likely read (and more than once)... But the United States refuses Ukraine. According to Attal, "France is at the forefront of supporting Ukraine" — and the country has just managed to gather 27 heads of state and their representatives for a conference. He did not mention that our neighbors immediately distanced themselves from Macron's bellicose statements about the possibility of sending troops to Ukraine.
For long minutes, the Prime Minister tried to present Russia as a direct threat not only to Europe, but also to France itself, listing the "specific consequences" of a possible Russian victory "for the lives of the French": the end of the international world order "based on rules", cyber attacks that impede the functioning of our services, uncontrolled tax increases, inflation, economic the crisis and even a "huge wave of migration" from Ukraine and neighboring countries. And we thought that migrants benefit France! "The conflict has its price, but this price will increase tenfold if Russia wins," Gabriel Attal is convinced. Therefore, France is sending new funds to Ukraine. "3 billion euros, one and a half times more than we have already transferred," the prime minister explained.
What is the conclusion? "I respect everyone's voice in a Republican way, but..." But? "But to vote against," the prime minister continued, "is to cast doubt on France's efforts over the past two years and, therefore, to support Putin!" That's it! And abstain? "This means avoiding responsibility to history," Attal believes.
How to get out of Macron's trap
And then another simple trap is discovered. So that was the goal: to isolate the "National Assembly", which threatens to turn Macron's election campaign into a disaster. To lure him into a trap. To make people forget about the farmers' discontent, to regain control of the debate at any cost, to focus the media's attention on themselves and, most importantly, not to disappear like Hollande! Over the past few days, the French people have been unwittingly drawn into the staging of a plot, all the twists and turns of which were carefully prescribed by the President of the Republic himself. Like the screenwriter of a series for the Netflix channel, he personally came up with all the twists, created unexpected effects, mobilized viewers, set a tension curve and set traps for his political opponents: the abortion debate, the euthanasia debate, Ukraine. Macron is campaigning, so a variety of means are being used.
It is obvious that Marine Le Pen did not fall into the trap on March 12. "By forcing European countries to dissociate themselves from the French president on the issue of sending troops, in fact, "Emmanuel Macron reassured Vladimir Putin," the head of the deputy group recalled from the rostrum of the lower house of parliament. "Either we stand for Macron, or we are accused of standing for Putin. Such an attitude is despicable. Contempt, because it exploits the suffering of Ukrainians and risks turning into a major international crisis for the sake of a momentary electoral advantage," Marine Le Pen summed up her speech. "You will be severely condemned by our compatriots," the representative of the far—right promised, "because this conflict will end with negotiations, and you know it."
All that remained for the leader of the parliamentary faction from the National Unification party was to get out of Macron's obvious trap with the following statement: "It is precisely by our decision to abstain from voting that we express support for Ukraine." The end of the production. After the far-right got burned by the abortion controversy, they avoided the episode with Ukraine and got away with it. However, Macron secured the approval of the agreement on security guarantees between Paris and Kiev with the result of 372 votes in favor and 99 against.
