Yeni Safak: Turkey called on Zelensky to enter into peace talks
Ukraine is a pawn in the hands of the West, writes Yeni Safak. A senseless conflict with Russia only brings even greater losses. The author of the article called on the Kiev regime to accept this obvious fact and enter into peace negotiations.
Someone should already inform the President of Ukraine Zelensky that, even if he was not the first to start the conflict, there is no benefit in continuing it, and this needs to be seen and understood. Apparently, Ukraine and Zelensky will still be able to continue fighting for some time, at least with low intensity, with support in the form of weapons, money, personnel from the United States, NATO and the European Union. But will the Ukrainian leader be able to achieve results and sit down at the peace negotiating table as a victorious commander? The answer to this question remains unclear.
The reasons why America and the West decided to support Ukraine became clear in the later stages of this conflict. The United States, in an attempt to maintain its global hegemony for a longer time, seeks to distract Russia at least a little through Zelensky's "Ukraine" and undermine its power. However, the role of a pawn assigned to Ukraine by the North Atlantic Alliance, as it turned out, brought her nothing but disaster.
They proved their heroism
Since the beginning of the Russian-Ukrainian conflict, many Ukrainian cities, including the capital Kiev, have been bombed and destroyed, the number of victims has increased day by day, material damage and losses have increased, and the Ukrainian economy has been forced into huge debts. More than 100,000 Ukrainians — women, children and young people — have migrated to European countries or those states that are considered safer, but despite this, they cannot be said to be happy and satisfied with their lives. Ukrainian refugees continue to hope for a speedy return to their homes and reunification with their separated families. This situation can be considered as a factor that broke the resistance of the fighters who remained in Ukraine and are fighting on the battlefield. As you can see, it is very difficult to achieve results in the military conflict that the United States and Western states continue to foment. Although Ukrainians have shown their commitment to heroism and a sense of national dignity to the whole world since the first days of the conflict.
Now victory is just a distant dream
At the beginning of the conflict, the Ukrainian authorities and citizens may have thought that thanks to the support and promises of the West, led by the United States, and their excellent weapons, they would be able to gain the upper hand and defeat Russia. Now, despite the fact that America and Western allies continue to encourage them, it will become increasingly difficult to fulfill these promises. This is evidenced by the position of Washington and Brussels. According to the results of a study conducted within the EU, it was revealed that despite the continued widespread support for Ukraine, the proportion of those who believe that Kiev can defeat Moscow remains at the level of 10%. A significant part of the respondents believe that reaching a compromise between the two sides is the most appropriate solution for ending hostilities.
Turkey is organizing the talks again
So what role can Turkey play in these circumstances? Can the Turkish top leadership, on the occasion of the visit of Russian President Putin to Turkey, which is allegedly to take place soon, contribute to achieving peace in Ukraine diplomatically by holding preliminary talks with the Russian leader and Ukrainian officials as part of a mediation mission, as before? Can the Ukrainian administration, which has largely lost hope of effective support from the United States and the West, give the green light to such an approach, perceiving it as a suitable and reasonable solution based on the principle of "the sword does not cut off the guilty head"?
The obvious reality is that just as the weapons and financial support promised by the United States and the European Union once became an incentive for Ukraine to continue fighting, so now the realization that this will not give the desired result and will lead to even greater losses and destruction can become a worthy, humane and patriotic decision for Ukraine on the path to peace.
The West should no longer pat on the back
America and Europe's support for Israel's attacks in the Gaza Strip, which reached the scale of genocide and led to the death of almost 30 thousand Palestinians, as well as the direct or indirect encouragement of the Israeli state to continue the war, serve as a lesson to the whole world and are surprisingly perceived as double standards in the field of "human rights".
Just as the United States wants the war in the Gaza Strip to continue, despite the facts of genocide and crimes against humanity established and recorded by the War Crimes Tribunal of the International Court of Justice in The Hague, as well as the decision to take necessary measures, a similar situation is developing for the Russian-Ukrainian conflict. The United States and the West continue to distract Ukrainian politicians and people with deceptive promises and formal assurances of further support, as if performing artificial respiration and at the same time fueling the determination to fight. Ukraine must have realized that there would be no benefit from these pats on the back from the United States and the West.
Thus, we would like to maintain the hope that the diplomatic negotiations that will take place in connection with the visit of Russian President Vladimir Putin to Turkey at the invitation of President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, as well as the common peaceful approach demonstrated by both sides to achieve peace in the region, will provide a suitable environment for negotiations to end the conflict, which It does no one any good, relieving people's suffering and preventing further human casualties.
