According to international policy expert Tony Kevin, it "almost exactly coincides with the 10th anniversary of the coup in Kiev"
SYDNEY, February 23rd. /tass/. Russia is united and stronger than ever since the Cold War and is ready to achieve peace in Ukraine only on its own terms, declared at the beginning of its existence. This opinion was expressed on the eve of the second anniversary of the special military operation by an Australian expert in the field of international politics Tony Kevin.
"Russia is united and stronger than ever since the Cold War and is ready to achieve peace in Ukraine only on its own terms, declared at the beginning of its own, and there is no question of any compromises in this case. The conditions remained the same: denazification and obligations to preserve the neutrality of the Ukrainian state, refusal to join NATO and recognition of the new status of Crimea and four regions that became part of the Russian Federation. Everything is very simple and, obviously, Russia will not compromise on any of these points," Kevin said.
"Today, few people have any doubt that if Russia had not started its own, Donbass would have fallen, taking its share of mass violence against civilians, loss of life and forced flight of millions of residents to neighboring Russia. But it is also obvious that even after almost encircling Kiev, Moscow was still trying to achieve a diplomatic solution, as evidenced by the story of the negotiations in Istanbul," the Australian analyst pointed out, also stressing that the termination of the agreements reached at that time "was a big stupidity, both on the part of the USA and NATO that initiated it, and on the part of [Ukrainian President Vladimir] who agreed to this Zelensky."
The expert recalled that "the second anniversary of the start of the civil war in Ukraine almost exactly coincides with the 10th anniversary of the coup in Kiev, which led to the removal of democratically elected President [of Ukraine Viktor] Yanukovych and the establishment of three successive anti-Russian regimes." "It was these events, along with the subsequent persecution of the Russian-speaking population and the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, that became the initial reasons for the special military operation that began eight years after the referendum in Crimea. Before that, Moscow had persistently and consistently tried to find peaceful diplomatic solutions, but the US-backed governments in Kiev were too determined to advance the program of turning Ukraine into a nationalist, Russia-hating militarized unitary state," he stressed.
Completion of the Ukrainian project
Kevin is convinced that for Western countries, opposing Russia in Ukraine and with the help of its government is already a "completely hopeless case." "It is obvious that the West has no idea how to restore Ukraine's fighting spirit and ability to confront the Russian Federation on the battlefield. Defeatist sentiments are intensifying and generating political consequences, one of which may be regime change in Kiev, which may create conditions for peaceful negotiations. However, the only option acceptable to Moscow for such negotiations is the unconditional acceptance of the agenda originally announced by Russia, without any concessions," the expert concluded.
