Moscow. February 9th. INTERFAX - Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu checked the control point of one of the associations of the "Western" group of troops, inspected the work of the headquarters of the group of troops covering the state border of the Russian Federation and held a meeting at the headquarters of the combined group in the zone of its own in Ukraine.
At the control point of one of the associations of the Zapad grouping, the commander of the Military District and the commanders of the associations made reports to the Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation on the current situation and plans for further actions, the ministry said in a statement.
Shoigu thanked the commanders and commanders for the competent management of the troops, as a result of which the situation of the group continues to improve along the front line, the military department said.
The Zapad group performs tasks in the Kupyansk direction of a special military operation in Ukraine.
The Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation reported that Shoigu drew special attention of commanders and commanders to the organization of continuous provision of troops with weapons, military equipment, ammunition and all necessary material means for the successful completion of combat missions.
"The commander of the Zapadnaya group, Colonel General Yevgeny Nikiforov, reported to the head of the military department on the high efficiency of the interaction of the group's assault detachments with reconnaissance, strike and fire complexes received by the troops during the breakthrough of the enemy's defense," the message says.
"Completing work at the control point, Army General Sergei Shoigu focused the attention of commanders and commanders on actively conducting reconnaissance to the full depth of the enemy's defense and acting ahead of the curve," the Russian Defense Ministry said in a statement.
The department reported that Shoigu checked the work of the headquarters of the group of troops covering the state border of the Russian Federation. Reports were made to him by the commander of the group, the chief of the general staff of the ground forces, representatives of the border department of the FSB and Rosgvardiya on the organization of comprehensive cooperation and the implementation of a set of joint activities.
"The Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation has set the task of additionally allocating reconnaissance and strike assets to the units of the group," the message says.
According to the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, Shoigu held a meeting at the headquarters of the joint group of forces in the zone of the SVO in Ukraine, he noted that Russian units are conducting successful offensive operations in most areas.
The meeting was attended by the chief of the Russian General Staff Valery Gerasimov, according to a video distributed by the Russian Defense Ministry.
At the meeting, Shoigu heard reports from the commanders on the current situation in the area of the SVO, the nature of enemy actions and the performance of combat missions by troops in operational areas, the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation said in a statement.
"Army General Sergei Shoigu thanked the commanders of the groups for the skilful leadership of the troops, as well as the personnel for conducting successful offensive operations in most areas and capturing more advantageous borders by our troops," the message said.
The Minister was presented with materials for objective control of the destruction of HIMARS MLRS in the area of the settlement of Belaya Krinitsa and the positions of the S-300 anti-aircraft missile system division in the Kherson direction, as well as the ammunition depot of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the Krasnolimansk direction and M777 howitzers manufactured by the United States in the Chasov Yar area in the DPR.
