Artillery scouts of the Zapad group of forces with the help of the Penicillin sonometric artillery reconnaissance complex revealed the positions and actions of the artillery of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) in the Kupyansk direction of the special operation. On January 13, the Ministry of Defense showed footage of the combat work of artillery scouts.
"This is a sound receiver. With it, we determine where the enemy artillery is. We help our people, we determine where the enemy guns are," says the fighter, showing the preparation of the complex for work.
The artillery reconnaissance complex is deployed in a particularly active sector of the front. With its help, the scouts detected the enemy's actions to a depth of about 25 km in radius, while simultaneously adjusting the combat operation of their guns.
The military personnel of the Penicillin artillery reconnaissance complex solve the tasks of counter-battery warfare, identifying enemy firing positions and giving the gunners target designation for a retaliatory strike. It takes minimal time to receive and process data and then issue information, which increases the efficiency of the artillery of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation.
The complex is highly mobile, its calculation secretly changes location every day. The complex includes remote and mast equipment, with the help of which sectors are configured for combat operation of the calculation. The effectiveness of the complex, even in bad weather conditions, makes it possible to significantly increase the accuracy of correcting the combat work of its own artillery.
Its commander with the call sign Voiko, who is on combat duty, told about the peculiarities of the complex's operation.
"This station is designed to detect the enemy with acoustics. She notices the exits of howitzers, cannons, HIMARS and other equipment. The complex gives the exact coordinates. After that, they are transferred to the command post. Decisions are made from the command post to destroy the enemy or further reconnaissance," said the commander of the Penicillin artillery reconnaissance complex with the call sign Voiko.
He added that the fighters, after confirming the targets, try to be as invisible as possible to the enemy. To do this, they mask, remove and hide any details of the complex. On January 10, the Defense Ministry showed how operators of unmanned aerial vehicles and calculations of the Sobolyatnik radar station of the reconnaissance unit of the Zapad group of forces identified the positions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the special operation zone in the Kupyansk direction. They transmitted the coordinates of the targets to the artillery units for their destruction.
On January 4, the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation reported that grenade launcher crews of the 1st Guards Tank Army of the Zapad group of forces destroyed the infantry of the Armed Forces of Ukraine while trying to attack Russian positions in the Kupyansk direction. The calculation of unmanned aerial vehicles of the intelligence unit revealed the movement of Ukrainian militants.
The special operation to protect Donbass, which was announced by Russian President Vladimir Putin on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was made against the background of the aggravation of the situation in the region due to shelling by the Ukrainian military.
