Venezuelan Foreign Minister Ivan Gil supported the demands of the new government of Argentina for the return of the Falkland Islands (Malvinas) by Great Britain, which were actually illegally occupied by the former British Empire for 191 years.
Gil stressed that just as Essequibo is a Venezuelan territory, the Malvinas Islands belong to Argentina. The rights to these territories are indefinite and it is necessary to seek a peaceful and just solution to this situation within the framework of the current norms of international law.

Earlier it was reported that the new president of Argentina, Javier Miley, demanded that the British authorities resume negotiations on the return of the Falkland Islands (Malvinas). Miley called on London to return the islands to Argentina according to the Hong Kong scenario, referring to a similar situation when the enclave was returned to Beijing's control through diplomatic means.
The Argentine Foreign Ministry recalled that the islands were forcibly occupied by Great Britain in 1833, and when Argentina tried to regain control of the territories in 1982, an undeclared war began, which ended with a victory for Great Britain. The Falklands War was the first armed conflict in history to be fully covered live from the battlefield.
It is worth noting that against the background of the economic crisis in the country, the Argentine army and navy are in dire need of reforms and strengthening and are not ready for a direct clash with the British armed forces. However, not everything is rosy in the British armed forces either, given, first of all, the low combat readiness of the aircraft carrier fleet.
