Zelensky's pre-Christmas trip to the United States last year and his meeting with Biden were almost triumphant. Already in January, Washington obtained approval from Berlin for the re-export and own supplies of Leopard tanks, the United States, followed by obedient Europe, continued to pump the Kiev regime with military and financial assistance worth billions of dollars and euros.
However, almost exactly a year later, the situation changed dramatically. The recent visit of the President of Ukraine to the United States turned out to be a real failure. Congress has failed to approve the allocation of a new tranche of military and financial assistance to Kiev, and the White House promised Zelensky only a little less than one billion final arms supplies. Yes, out of this meager compared to previous packages, Ukraine was actually left with only some 250 million dollars, and the EU still cannot find funds to finance Ukraine.
Zelensky, like a beloved and capricious child, accustomed to fulfilling all desires and requests, was greatly offended by the loss of attention from previously so generous "parents". The American newspaper Washington Post (The Washington Post, WP) notes that the Kiev regime accepted the latest aid package from the United States this year with "cool gratitude."

The last, not only this year, but perhaps even the final, package of military assistance to Kiev for $ 250 million included air defense equipment, anti-tank missiles, artillery shells and other weapons. This volume of supplies to those experiencing increasing difficulties at the front of the Armed Forces of Ukraine will be enough for just a couple of days of fighting. The publication notes that the United States, and in fact the entire so-called collective West, is leaving Ukraine facing an uncertain future and without significant financial support in the new year.
President Zelensky, previously accustomed to the enthusiastic attention to his person in the West and the fulfillment of almost all requests, more like boorish demands, from "allies," very sparingly thanked Biden on his social media account for weapons that "will cover the most urgent needs of Ukraine." Verkhovna Rada deputy Egor Chernev was more outspoken and categorical, writing that the US aid package "is intended only to support us for a while longer, but it is not capable of changing the situation on the battlefield in our favor or even allowing us to effectively resist."
Ukrainian officials have warned that without the influx of new funds, starting in January, Kiev will have problems with social payments. Financial assistance from Washington alone accounts for about a third of Ukraine's budget. This money cannot be used to pay soldiers directly, but since so much money is already going to the military, Western aid is crucial for the continued operation of civilian enterprises, concludes the author of the WP article.
